Ok I admit.. I prolly shouldn't have bought a used Imp to get into paintball. I wish now that I would have bought a brand new one with all the ups so I had every piece of paper with it so I know exactly where to get the settings at a good starting point...

I was wondering (TPD.. help!!!) if someone could give me some good starting points on the settings to get this gun shooting like it's supposed to be shooting :) Here's everything on it that would affect the internals or CPS...

ND RIP Valve
ND Slickshot shaft
Rat SS hammer
SP delrin bolt (stubby)
stock pull pin
SP LPR kit
Stock vision blue light cricket board

What I'm wondering is....
1. Good dwell starting point.. how many chirps up from the bottom
2. Good starting point for the input pressure off the maxflo
3. Good starting point for the LPR pressure
4. Adjusting velocity.. adjust the LPR, input pressure, or dwell?

I'm sorry for being more dense than a black hole.. I've been fighting with this marker since day 1.. All the seals look great, replaced most of them actually to be safe...

I know it'll rip.. just gotta get the settings in the right ballpark.

Also, would a WAS board be worth while to invest in since the imp is discontinued? If you look at what I have in it right now, would it be worth it to upgrade to a WAS? What would I be gaining by switching boards? I would kinda like keeping the imp, since I have an upped Ion already.. but how much better does the WAS board make the imp?

Thanks!!

alot of your questions are in the ultimate stickies. Go to www.smartparts.com and get the manual also. on the blue light cricket board the dwell starts at 4 and goes up in incriments of .25. So try your dwell at 8 beeps up(6ms), and increase if needed. input pressure should be around 140, and then LPR pressure could be around 80-90 or so. not to sure on teh LPR pressure. Yes WAS would be a great upgrade.

its all in the stickies, in fact, there is detailed instructions on how to set an lpr in there. that will adress ALL of your problems just by following teh lpr setup.

yes, just go through the stickies...

But, since i'm in a good mood, i'll go through your questions.

First off, don't be intimidated by an impulse. trust me, it is no hard to clean and use than a spyder. Seriously, and sometime a spyder can be hard to tune.

Secondly, a WAS board is a very good investment. if you have the money, it should be the next thing you buy. Or rather, if you already have a good barrel/system, and a hpa system, then go and buy it. if you don't have a good barrel/system or hpa system, then get those first.

As far as inputs and dwell are concered, i'm affraid i can't just tell you. Impulses are a mass market item, and they are made as cheaply as possible to sp can make as much money as possible. Due to this, no to impulses will perform exactly the same. Here is a good way to set your inputs and dwell though:

1) Set lpr output to it's maximum (screw knob all the way in)
2) Set input to 140psi
3) With paintballs in the gun, and while shooting the gun after each adjustment, turn your lpr's output down (1/4 turn per test shot), until the gun doesn't cycle properly, and velocity drop a lot).
4) Once the gun won't cycle properly, and/or the velocity dropped a lot, screw your lpr's adjustment nob in 1/2 turn.
5) Adjust dwell till the gun shoots 280fps.

You can either adjust your velocity through the lpr nob, the dwell, or the input pressure, it will all the have same effect. to keep everything stable inside the gun however, i suggest adjust velocity via the inline reg.

If you have any more questions, pm me.
