I think ESPN had some coverage of the World Cup in October, but nothing major. Toronto TV stations will probably have some cameras at Skyball in March. But, there's no regular coverage.

i think that it would bore the general public and make people less interested in paintball, i mean, come on! would you be interested in a bunch of people on tv shooting eachother like that with bad coverage? i think that paintball should have commericals for local fields and gear, that are short and sweet. i remember when i heard of paintball the first time i wanted to know more about it like what gear to get and where the closest field was. by doing this, it will entrap those curious about the sport and even some that airnt

 <---- perfect example of a tv paintball viewer.
ya know why?
cause he wont be able to see the fuc king paint!!!
what fun it will be, just think, watching people pull triggers and say: "I'm out!"
Fun fun fun!
that and the real fun is playing not watching.

you can't really see the paint unless your pulling the trigger too. but its still fun to see.

Skyball (http://www.zapskyball.com) is the largest indoor paintball tournament in the world. It's held at the beginning of March every year at the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Skydome is a 30,000+ seat, retractable roofed stadium on Toronto's waterfront.
Also, I don't think it's NPPL, but I could be wrong... I know it's sponsored by Zap and WDP.

I think it would be cool and beneficial if they showed only highlights of paintball matches .. Like i think its cool to see people get bunkered, or gogged.. or to see the last guy try to run out of his bunker to the next one but being lit up by 3 opponents..
..Just that kinda stuff i think the public would like to see, and think it would be cool.
Most people think baseball is boring as hell to watch.. But most like to see the homeruns, sometimes the big strikeouts, when someone gets beaned, etc.
I think this works the same way for paintball .. Just 2 minutes of clips on ESPN of important plays in a match would catch the attention of the public, and may rise curiousity in the publics eye.
I dunno, just my opinion

back when i was 5 i say tournys on ESPN. Thats what got me thinking "paintball seems cool." I could see the paint, and the coverage was just as good as the olimpics, with full field, side field, and person to person coverage...
i miss PB on TV

I posted all my "manifesto" type opinions on how paintball should be filmed at the post "More Serious PB" (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=29523&highlight=more+serious) so if'n you're interested, there they are. It deals mostly with the "Straight paintball footage is boring" aspect of these gripes. I haven't gotten any solid feedback on the concrete logistics of it such as costs. As for not being able to see the paint, then I'm sure there can be something done for that. Remember when you couldn't see the puck in a hockey game? Then they added color graphics to make it more visible. They could do something like that to the paint. Maybe add a motion blur so each ball looked like a line about a foot long instead of a 68 caliber dot.
Also, yes, the XFL-type camera idea is a nice touch, but it's a wish-list idea. It could be considered only after achieving the minimum number of cameras necessary to film a paintball match with adequate continuity.
