Is the velocity the same on the flatline as the stock? because when my friend goes to get his tippmann chronoed he wants to know which is higher, or whether they are the same.

I'm pretty sure its close to the same. The only possible difference is because the flatline has friction, it goes a tad slower when it leaves the barrel.

I've heard (and experienced) that it's best not to have the velocity set to 300 fps on the flatline. Supposedly, 280-285 is optimal for the flatline, and will help in having less breaks, and better accuracy.
Have you found that Creeper?

I havent really found a problem with rising balls like Tippman describes, but I find that it is the optimal velocity. I think 280 is the limit of what most places use, so they probably designed the barrel with that velocity in mind. The slower the velocity, the less the ball breaks, most likely because the friction. I have yet to turn the velocity way up and see how it shoots because the velocity is right now, and its a ***** to adjust with only 1 chrono at the field during winter play.

Yeah, I figured more Velocity would increase friction and more friction would increase backspin, why is the inside of the barrel so rough? does it have anything to do with the backspin? Would lower velocity make it float more than higher? Its strange how when you shoot a good distance how it takes a couple of secs to get there, it seems like it shoot slower than other barrels.

It is a trick how your eye follows the ball.
Long straight line seems slower then a curve ball (Just like playing cricket watch the curve bowler)
Velosity is key. too much and you break balls and the ball will climb up after leaving the barrel then it will curve.
The velosity needs to balance the fall induced by gravity. When you have the perfect setting the ball will travel stright and in the distance wonder off downwards and left or right depending on ball shape. :(
I have mine set where i get a straight line for about 150 feet at 260 fps

I usually chrono mine at 270-280 fps.
