View Full Version : Because there's no wrong way...to pull a trigger

Or eat a Reese's. Anywho, just thought I'd ask how everyone likes their trigger. Do you make it as short as possible, shorter than a mouse click, or do you prefer a little slack to give the trigger a little bit of bounce?
Blade trigger, or double trigger?
I myself gave myself a little bit of slack, I may shorten it, but I'll probably still leave some slack.

Well I shoot a Pimp and it's very weird. Once you get the hang of it though, can rip pretty damn good.

On my Spyder, it's set so it's not a mouse click, but damn near one. I just don't like mouse-click type triggers. Actually, it's kind of snappy, like the ION's trigger, but the pull isn't as long.

I prefer to have a blade style and feel a tiny, tiny click. I also like having it short. I really don't have a fetish against magnetic triggers, either.

blade trigger, early activation time (like almost instantaneous), with maybe 10mm of slack behind it, with almost no resistance.

Spyderman prefers his to where all he has to do to get the gun to fire is think bad thoughts about the other guy.

As short as possible, easiest to walk.

I also like the wave triggers that bulge ******d.

i like a very short pull, just short of a mouse click, and i like a blade trigger

I like the trigger somewhat short and light with a CP roller trigger = so nice to rip on.

I like a blade trigger with a very short bit of slack.

Blade trigger, a little longer so I can get some bounce.

Blade Trigger with very little slack.

I like a longish sloopy pull with a near instant actuation, like spyderman.

Strong return, short activation, uber slack.

Quick return, VERY short, usually double finger or blade.

I like reverse curved blade trigger, like the critical. I like them a bit snappy and slacky.

I'm partial to a blade like trigger, or anything without a bump (ie double trigger), or any weird backwards curve. I like a little slack, but not too much.

BunkerBuddy_666

I like a trigger that has a very early activation point (instant), with only 1 or 2 mm of slack or back travel, with NO resistance. Ill tell you, it bounces, and fires when a fly lands on it. (it must have been a fly, because it fired and i was the only one around)

EDIT: I like the blade style trigger.

I like it to have some bounce to it as my fingers tend to stick, but not to hte point that it bounces while walking. But thats my personal preference.

Give me a day with just about any trigger and Ill get used to it.

well for mech i like a smooth pull and on a electro i like a delerin trigger with a 6 gram switch with about a mm of movement.

I like a snappy trigger return like on my E2. I like the firing point at the beginning of the pull with about 5mm or a little more behind it. I don't like mouseclick pull just because I can fire faster to the way I'm used to. I also hate wobbly triggers that I can blow on and they shoot.

light, long pre-pull, short post-pull.

06-12-2005, 05:08 PM
Very snappy feel to it, kinda long (1/2 cm towards bottom/middle), activation point set about 1/3 way through pull.

Two finger trigger, fair amount of slack with instant return after contacting the switch. No spring or magnet, just bounce off the switch.

See also Tippmann 98 E-bolt w/ DOP double trigger and spring removed...........

Different I know, but I loved that trigger setup.

I've felt lots of triggers, from a 4 1/2 pound AR-15 trigger to a 5 GRAM mechanical air-rifle trigger....the benefits of being on a rifle team.

i like my trigger about the same as my mouse, but with an earlier firing point, and a tiny bit more back-play. I HATE fore-play on a trigger...it's wasted energy that shouldn't be there for any reason. (the ONLY time i like it is when i'm shooting competitively on a rifle team). But I also don't like it when the trigger doesn't move, because that doesn't feel natural to me, hence the tiny bit of back-play.

(this is on a double trigger....)

i hate the stock shocker trigger and the stock ion trigger.....ewww....

I prefer medium slack, blade/double hybrids. Like a stock shocker trigger.

snappy, not too snappy so that its heavy...about 5 mm of play, defintely flat blade trigger, I love the sammy trigger on my e-blade

I like my gun to have a big crank on it. I can get my gat shooting about 4 shots per second with a good spin of the ole crank. :)

Seriously, short pull before and after so I can shoot quickly without any illegal bounce.

i like mine with some slack. it just feels nicer

rcxpaintball
06-13-2005, 08:55 AM
85 or 50g M/S

Some side to side play.
No bounce
Wave or Turbo [reverse trigger] Trigger or a MT "Clicker" trigger
Short pull
Stopscrew set just after it activates
Short return

Short and sweet keeps me happy.

But every so often [depending on marker] I prefer a longer pull.

Strong spring/magnet, short pull, lots o slack, with a critical or blade style trigger...

nerdcore

A little bit of a pull length, snappy return, blade style. No other preferences.

Kingman27

Longer than a mouseclick with the activation like 3/5 in

chris220

I prefer a blade trigger, magnetic return, nice and snappy. about 3-4mm of slack max

Defiler

Mouse clicks. As short activation as possible, little to no slack once activated.

Downfall08

As long as I can get it with activation in middle or close to end. Snappy is preferable but I like the pull to be pretty light.

Blade trigger, a little bit of distance before activation, but nothing after that. Thats how I like it.

Kurama
06-14-2005, 08:58 PM
Blade, low tension, medium length pull. People are so obsessed with gettin an uber short trigger, but they don't realize that all it does is slows them down because they have nothing pushing their fingers back, and it gives no buffer between the actulation point of the trigger, so you skip shots a lot. Thats my :twocents:

darktrooper5
06-14-2005, 09:12 PM
Techna Sythe 2 style or crtitical style.

A lot of people have a faster index finger and slower middle finger, these trigger help with that.

I hate triggers with horribly short pulls.

Elemental889

Call me wierd, but I like my stock A-5 trigger pull. I now it's a heavy and fairly long pull, but I like how it feels. It feels like I'm actually pulling and fire something instead of just clicking something. Also, I don't have to worry about my gun going off when I tap the trigger because I like to rest my finger on the trigger (I fired an Impulse one time were the trigger pull was so short that I couldn't rest my fingers on the trigger).

Timmy Triggers > All. Short, but still light, and pretty snappy.

Long and light is good too, though.

I have my CP roller on my DM4 set up perfectly. Sloppy yet snappy, with that actuation point about 1/4 way into the pull...

how do i shorten down the pull length on the trigger? spyder victor 2

Short but not too short and smooth pull through no side to side or heavy resistance on pull.

robdamanii

Set the trigger adjustment to halfway through the maximum length of the pull, then adjust the pre and post travel down to desired finger preference.

Welcome to my "trigger job 101" faq.
