I hate when paintball in TV is shown with people using simple shop glasses, and people shoot the living crap of nerds, what do you guys think?

I love it when they do that. Truest portrayal of paintball ever.

I thought about this the other day. If you mean on tv like sitcoms or scripted shows, I think its because the actors faces would be covered by the masks and you cant see them and dont know who is who. With the dumb shop glasses they can still act. I dunno it made sense to me. I could be completly wrong though.

Shop glasses are all they had when paintball started. Even my cousin will go out with just the goggle part of his old JT mask (not to play, just to watch).

Besides, it's tv. People shouldn't be too concerned with what's on there.

*Sees someone using a bat to get into someone's car*

OMG, I'm not going to play baseball, it looks only for criminals.

On a serious note, not many people take what is on TV seriously unless it's a serious show. We have more actual paintball shows out lately (PB2X, UAP, Xball on ESPN, etc) that doesn't show paintball as a harmful sport.

Not to mention those shows are on 3 big stations (Spike TV, WGN, ESPN, etc) that will get the shows seen.

I've watched the Commander's Cup on Sportsnet and yes I agree the comentary is hilarious, they should just play music.

On scripted TV I could really could care less. If you let TV brainwash you then you are even dumber than the writers of scripted TV. sorry but the whole everyone loves raymond conveyor belt thing...just not funny.

I hate the show on WGN, besides the fact that they do 3-man, the players are stoopid! They talk about how they wipe (and somehow get away with it) WAY TOO MUCH!
The show makes it look like WWE wrestling. The players also say that they "blow peoples heads off " instead of saying "gogged". I do like the PB2X show though. I loved the coverage of The Russian/Boston Red Leigon. Great Stuff:)

I liked the show on wgn way better than the one on spike. not to sound wierd or anything but I noticed the hosts of the spike TV show never changed their clothes throughout the entire season

PB2X is going to be on OLN this upcoming season. Not sure exactly when it starts though. I'm guessing in the fall. Last seasons re-runs are on OLN twice a week now.

I'm all for paintball on TV. I just think the tournament coverage needs better announcers. If the announcers can make NASCAR sound exciting when nothing is really happening but cars going in a circle, then they should be able to make paintball exciting too. I saw some world cup footage on TV and the announcers sounded like they were reading the declaration of independance. Boring, monotone voices without even a clue who the players were.

It was like "a player from Dyansty just moved up into the snake, (yawn)".

Better announcers will make a world of difference in the popularity of paintball on TV.

I meant on TV shows like The Simpsons(It was on there) and OWNAGE, I think you mis-understood it, I meant how it's portrayed that you don't use much gear, sorry, should have been more specific.

Believe it or not whipper snappers (JT shop goggles) are the most compact goggles on the market. They made it where when you yell nothing gets in the way, too. You should check them out sometime.

As far as other television shows protraying paintball, I don't really worry about it. They also show other sports in goofy ways but because we're passionate about paintball, we only notice when they do it to paintball.

I've seen "football" games where they had on helmets, shoulder pads and no other padding. I've seen baseball games where they don't wear a batting helmet. The list goes on. Any reasonable person will understand that the way it's showed on a sitcom isn't necessarily the way it's really played.

He's right. that episode was great. It showed how you get overprotective parents to let you go paintballing. Also. seeing that kid snap out on the field was funny as heck. Pure hilarity:laugh:.

I don't know if any of you saw this, but on MTV's "date my mom" show, one of the contestants named Ricky took this mom out on a date where the mom and Ricky went out paintballing. I believe they were using spyders, it was interesting enough to watch. The weirdest thing though, was that the daughter was named Angel Princess...Its an unusual name all right.

Don't know if this has been said, but they had a good portrayal of paintball on Reno 911. Two of the women cops go to this guy's house and he starts shooting at their car with marker. They call for back up and Garcia and Jones (I think) show up in full gear and even a team name on the back of their blue and gray camo. They are also packin some high end guns. They go into the house and force the guy out and he comes out complaining that they didn't follow the rules. Also, everyone had on proper protection. It was really funny.

That was good, and that is why I love Reno 911. at the end of the last episode, they had a clip of the same cops (Garcia and Jones) run at a guy with shop goggles and Pro-Carbines (from the looks of it). I wonder why...

I don't know, I didn't see that episode. I was glad though that when I saw them with paintball stuff, they used all the proper protection and made our sport look safe (at least safe in our eyes).
