View Full Version : Teflon tape/grease instead of Loctite?

I recently just got my M98C, and I realized that the threaded steel hose doesn't use loctite, but instead, teflon grease. Is loctite used on the original M98 just to create an airtight seal? I always thought that it was used to keep the threads connected more securely. I also thought about that when I realized that the X-Chamber instructions don't mention putting loctite on the X-Chamber threads, and I'm guessing it's because the O-Ring creates the airtight seal, not the loctite. Anyways, I'm going to install an X-Chamber on a friend's M98 (not custom), and I was wondering if I could use the same process (using teflon tape/grease, instead of loctite)?

locktite isnt made for sealing parts. its made to hold parts together extremely well. for a good sealent use teflon tape it works real good. only use locktite if you need to hold two parts together.

Erm, yeah. I asked if I could use teflon tape/grease on a friend's M98 airline, because my m98c came with teflon grease on the threads, and the x-chamber instructions says to use the included loctite.

For low end guns, teflon is fine, but if youve got regs, or solionoids, you should be using loctite, it won't shred off and f'up your equipment.

I just need an answer: Could I use it on a stock M98 with no problems?

The problem with the tape is shreading, ripping tearing can cause flakes or pieces to "clog" up the internals of your marker. Loctite won't do that!

I've never heard of teflon grease but the tape will work just fine I used it on a Spyder. After I got my Timmy I started using thread lockers (like loctite) and if I had known how easy it was to use I would have done so when I had a Spyder.
