Swear filter

Well, this is just an idea, of course, but it could be pretty cool. Instead of just censoring with asterisks, would it be feasible to replace swear words with other, completely innocent words? For example, you could replace the F-bomb with "firetruck", and the N-word with "pommegranate".

Thoughts?

I've seen that done on other sites. It's rather funny, just a thing to spruce the site up. I like it :tup:
s-bomb could be "shizzle" or "s-unit".

sounds like itd be something fun to laugh about when your reading posts...except for some reason i can see people taking advantage of it and every 3 words be like firetruck, shizzle, bonker and crazy funny stuff like that

It would be even better if you couldnt edit that part out of your post.

In counter-strike some servers have it, all the UK ones do, but thats besides the point. It replaces your intire sentence with, "I have a potty mouth" "I cant believe I kiss my mother with this mouth" "this vulgar language is hurting my dainty ears"
I dont really remember them word for word, but just create game, put the swear filter on, and then type away lol.

I hate when I play on MS or MOHAA servers where Noob is replaced with "Great PLayer" and so its other stuff, but if they were replaced with cool owrds that would be cool, though I like asterisks just fine too

I have been on some forums that do that with the swear filter. At first, its kinda funny hearing some peoples complain that a mod came in and edited their posts. but....it gets old after a while.

besides....I dont want words that we dont really want screwed up, like "out wards" getting turned into something really lame like "Yeah, I lick my butt". could cause some serious confusion in a thread where you are trying to help somebody.

On the wolfpack forums, I just set it up to show :censored: on the very few words that we've got blacklisted.

I did this at a forum I moderated once. Very interesting to hear people saying 'flower' so many times. And lots of other entertaining words.

...and some completely innocent words would be converted to swear words just to spruce things up a bit! So, like "paintball" would be the F word, "the" could be something else, and so on!
