I'm getting a Tippmann M98C. I already plan to get a 12 or 14 inch barrel with it, but I want to know what most of you guys run for air. I know that HPA is pretty expensive, but would it be worth it in the long run? I might try some tourneys, but mainly rec games, and maybe some woodland games. How long (and how expensive is) will a 20oz C02 tank last? Should I get an expansion chamber if I run C02? Can you get it refilled most places? Do they make any C02 tanks larger than 20oz? Can the M98C run out of the box on 20 oz or larger/smaller C02 tank? Thanks.

I just got a 14oz tank for my new M98C. A 20oz at room temperature with no expansion chamber will probably last you around 1200 shots.

That is alot of questions but I will help where I can!
Right now I just run a 14 oz. Co2 and it last me about two days of play. (I play outlaw) Co2 works just fine with M98 Customs and I hear that with the way they are set up HPA doesn't make much of a difference. If you plan on playing in the cold alot you might want to get an anti syphon. And I will be getting a on/off valve because when you disconnect the Co2 in the cold I loose a lot of Co2! I also have an Expansion chamber on my Tippmann and it does give me better gas efficiency but I don't find it makes a huge difference. (I still think it is worth having)
As far as the M98C running out of the box I runs perfectly well out of the box but it helps to get a new barrel.
Hope this is helpful!

OK, thanks. I assume that the C02 can be refilled then....How much does a 20oz tank usually run?

Okay, in order:
1.) HPA/CA/Nitro bottles are extremely expensive compared to Co2 tanks. A 68/3000 bottle will only last you about 700 shots, but costs up to 250 dollars. If you only play rec usually, just get a 16 oz. Stubby tank. With a 98 Custom it will really help with the length.
2.) A 20 oz. will last maybe a thousand to 1100 shots before needing to be refilled.
3.) They make 24 oz. tanks I believe, but it's too big. Definitely not worth it, just get a 20 oz.
4.) Yep, just screw in the tank, put in some paint, and shoot!

Oh yeah, and a 20 oz. tank will be about 35 bucks, and about 5 bucks to fill it.

Yup. It doesn't come filled, either. Where I live (Omaha, NE), Sports Authority charges 39 cents/ounce to fill CO2.

A lot of places have 20oz tanks for 20 bucks + shipping of course. If I were you I would get a drop forward for the first thing you buy next. The 98 is very long witha 14incher and a 20oz.
