View Full Version : A-5 with E-Grip having problems, please give advice!

I recently purchased a (lightly used) A-5 from a friend, with an E-Grip, Lapco Drop Forward, 20-oz. CO2, and a Dye Xcel barrel.

Most times, when I pull the trigger (it's on turbo mode) it just makes this weird clicking noise, but doesn't fire.

Yes, it's cocked. Yes, the safety is off. Yes, it is hooked up to a properly filled air source. Yes, I have checked the trigger frame to make sure it works properly. Yes, the trigger frame and gun are properly attached.

I've tried pulling the trigger without attaching to the main part of the gun, just to see if it's working correctly. The little metal lever that (should) release the sear taps down and up, as it should. When I re-attach the frame and cock the gun, I can still hear the thing clicking away, but it doesn't release the sear, and therefore the bolt stays in the same place.

From what I can tell (although I have no previous experience with Tippmann maintenance) everything should be working correctly.

Occasionally, it actually will fire, but then goes back to that stupid clicking.

Anyone here that has any idea what the problem could be? Apparently it was working fine for my friend earlier, but now it sucks.

I'm guessing bad sear or worn trigger mechanism. Please tell me what you think.

Change your batteries. Your 'noid isn't tripping the sear because it's low on juice.

Try a new battery. Maybe the current one doesn't have enough juice to fully trip the sear.

I had the same problem, called tippmann, sent me a tripping rod for free and if that didn't work I would send it into them for free.

that was one of the reasons i had to send mine in.(that and the rof adjuster fell off).get a new rod or send it in for free.the guy i talked to at tippmann said more times than not they send you a brand new egrip instead of fixing the old one.

If it was the tripping rod, then why did it work well before he got it? I can't see how that magically gets shorter.

Because, there isn't a triping rod untill you get the E-grip.
