I have just heard that there is a bill being sent through congress. The bill is to prevent anyone under the age of 21 from buying a paintball gun and paintballs. I don't know want all of the bill entails, but if I get more information I will defiantly post it here. If anybody has some useful information to help us fight this please send it to herrmannjared@johndeere.com. If you live in Iowa call your congressman and let them know how you feel.

It was just on the news that its going to the Iowa Legislative branch (but I forgot the date) and they are going to decide on wether to limit the buying and selling of paintballs, paintball guns, and all equipment to people 21 and up!!! Being 17 myself, and an avid paintballer, I feel as though the majority is being punished for what some stupid punks did with brass eagles!!!

This is very bad new indeed :(

I will still be able to get my needed paint but this will make it very difficult. Can anyone post an address to a website that has any news on the bill?

It has been dropped, since the citys and counties already have the right to do this (they just don't, apparently)

Check out velocityiowa.com. Look under events. They generally have a lot of the Iowa events posted there.

there are local tournies in around here (iowa), but again, mostly "local events". some in eastern Iowa and some in northern Iowa, Action Jacks (where I play) has some once in a while (no shedule yet, that I know of), and may do more now that they have a new hyper-pipe speedball field, but AJ's is more famous for their "big-games" and scenarios.

The indoor place accross the street from AJ's (ICU Paintball) has tournies much more often (but it's fields are speedball fields, and lean toward that kind of play anyway). you could check their website for local events.

there are others too, but can't think of their names, since I haven't been to any yet. ACP, comes to mind, but am not for sure that is what they are called.

Action Jacks Paintball Park (http://www.actionjackspaintball.com/) Is located just off I80, about a couple blocks north of the interestate, at the colfax exit (directions on the web page). BTW - they just set up a new hyper-pipe arena, for those that like to play that kind of paintball.

Okay guys, first of all, it's great to hear that the bill was dropped. Being only 18 myself it would have been quite a, shall we say, inconvenience. Rambo, I like your plugs for AJ's, I would imagine you know just a little about the fields and events there. :-) I'm not saying anything against the field, I just thought it was a little humorous. As for ACP, they have some nice fields. I played there last fall. They have one heavily forested field which is probably twice the size of AJ's wooded field, and another field that was in the works. They also have a small speedball field. Though I did enjoy playing there quite a bit and the owner was very helpful, I would have to say that my loyalties still rest with Action Jacks. Thanks again for the info, I hope I was of some help with the ACP question.

I goto velocity paintball, its nice, they only have one field up right now, but there 2nd field is just about done, they can change it everyweekend so your never playing on the same field twice. They just started, but its alot cheaper then going to team products to play.

I used to play at the timber field at ICU years ago, but haven't been there in almost 5 years, so really couldn't say what it's like now.

I do know that the field is large, has some flat areas as well as wooded areas, if I wasn't going to be out of town that weekend, I'ld probably go myself.

I also go to velocity in West Liberty. It's great. The last guy to talk about it said that they only have one field up, which is true, kinda. During open games on Sundays they let you play on it (Avelanche, the new speed ball field). They also hold a 3 man limited paint tourney each month and over the summer are looking to expand open games from only Sundays to Sundays and Thursday nights.

I play at ACP it's a great place. it's pretty cost effective and they've expanded the fields more this year. I heard the big game was pretty cool one of my friends went. I can't wait til august to hit that 5 man up at powerstation.

It's not really North, but there is a field in Council Bluffs called " The Cliffs" or something like that. I've played there before, and if you like cliffs it's the place for you.

Where is the "cliffs" field at? I'm north of council bluffs and tired of driving an hour to get to Husker paintball.

Near the K-Mart in Council Bluffs. Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. It might be gone. The guy ran it out of an Army tean the one and only time I was there. 6 people, 3 games all day and he still charged me a field fee.

Does anyone know if there are plans to open up a indoor paintball field in the Cedar Rapids area because I used to live there and I come back and visit family every summer and christmas and I didnt realise Velocity was there so I missed out on my summer trip. Do I have any luck for the winter?

Halliday

Sorry man, I don't know. I have not lived around there for a while so I don't know what's going on there. Near Des Moines, our only indoor field shut down because of low turn out. If you saw the field you'd know why.

I know the outdoor field is closed for good. ACP bought the bunkers. I was told the indoor was closed as well, by a worker. I've played at the neighbor AJ's several times in the past few months and only have only seen Putt-Putt golf over at ICU now.

I haven't ever seen ayone at the put-put course, but I only get to play once a month or so (I pay at AJ's). The mini-golf thing is kewl and all, but it is all out in the open, no shade or anything. Prolly not too good for business with our Iowa 90 degree 100% humidity days. :)

I play at the Velocity in West Liberty, acctually i'm from west liberty. They have a real nice field going for them on the hyperball field, made some really nice improvements. They just held the five man turny yesterday, but I think the young guns turny is next month. That'll be the last of the turnys for the year.

You are probably better off going to Team Products Paintball in Tiffin (just west of Coralville)--probably about 20min from Swisher. http://www.iowapaintball.com

I know it takes me just over 30min to get to velocity in West Liberty......pretty much why I don't go there..... http://www.velocityiowa.com

For indoor fields, I beleive the closest it Total Paintball in Eldridge, IA......pretty nice field. Would be great if they would get there act together and finish the outdoor courses!

Does anyone know where to get some info on this whole age restriction thing? I know that we've pretty much decided that its over, but I would be interested in knowing a little more ( and activly protesting againts any other similar, they have to listen to me, I'm 20 and registered to vote!). And to all you dissin on Iowa, saying no wonder everyone leaves, I plan on stayin right here where I can walk out my back door just outside Iowa city and play outlaw ball with my buddies on a course that goes on for miles!

We now actually have a place that we can play paintball at without gettin arrested or something, but it's not much. I'm gonna try and get it to be a little closer to an actual speedball course, cause now it's just a bunch of spools all sittin around. The only problem is, we have to walk for like a 1/2 mile to get tehre from where we park. Oh well.... haha.
