OK, in about three weeks i am going to buy a TES, which is an upgrade from the Dragun Fire i had for about half a year then something messed up the solonoid. But, I want to Know if buying a used gun off of ebay or another paintball site is better then buying a brand new one. And is it really worth it to buy a new one since money is hard get.

Dragun's out of business, you can only find used ones now.
And you can find them on ebay. There are a couple of One's still being sold for 209 on ebay.

Or you can see if you can find a Torid X, which is an upgraded version of the TES. I know that www.discountpaintball.com had them instock, but they only had one of each color, and I got the Red/black one :D

Ebay is a good place to find one, thats where i got mine :) [ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16048&item=7144378118 ] Be careful when you buy, more than usual, check feedback, and if possible, ask other customers. Almost ALL TES owners know that the TES has some "weakenesses" (usually leaks, teflon will fix :) ) Some guy was selling TES's on ebay for $110 Shipped (where i got mine). But if you want a lil more security buy the Torid, that way you have some website (discountpaintball.com) to return the marker to, just in case it messes up or something.

good post Nintendo. I like how you threw in the advice about how to shop on ebay

yeah, so far, I gotta agree with what everybody else has said.

I'd say skip the TES and go for a Torid X, same thing with a few nice extras and less hassle.

get an o2 if u can save up the money. its much better considering its epneum. if u want a blowback then go for it but the e pneum will be much better in the long run.

Don't go from a blow back to another. Not much of a step up.

Schools got a point. Unless your going from something like a mech spyder to a tes, going from one blowback to another is just a lot of money and hassle for not much of an upgrade.

kinda depends on if his dragunfire is LED or LCD. the LED only has a 10 bps cap.
if its the LCD then about the only real "upgrade" would be the styling of it.
But still, getting a newer/newish marker is always fun, regardless of what type of operation it has.
to be honest tho, I think you might check into getting one of the Odyssey Torid X markers. Pricetag is just a LITTLE bit more, but considering that Odyssey is still around, while Dragun isn't, it might not be a bad 20-40 bucks spent.

so much information, IT BUrns... but, thanks I looked at the Torid X and I 'm really liking it. It looks pretty much the same as the TES ,but thats a good thing. I am also looking for an e hopper , any suggestions?

 yep, almost exactly identical in looks, except that it doesnt have those fugly clear grips.

well, if you've got even decent fingers, you are gonna need a hopper that is decently fast.
I'd say either go with a haloB, Evo2, or Ricochet Apache.

Apache- holds the least amount of balls, and has some slight speed problems when the hopper is low on paint

HaloB- EXPENSIVE, and can forcefeed balls down past the detents, causing double feeds.

Evo2- has a few problems with some of the shell parts (lid, battery door) breaking.

My personal fave is the evo2. But over in the hopper forums we've been seeing a slight case of a few people getting some New ones that dont want to feed for some reason that we havent been able to figger out yet.

Revys are only like 25 bucks or so now. So if you are short on cash, get it.

thanks for the hopper list. I'm really short on cash considering i'm to young to get a job besides mowing lawns and stuff of that sort. Also...
do I HAVE to use HPA on the torid x or could I still "safely" use Co2?

Torid X is perfectly fine on co2. Unless your like me and my TES and you decide to see how many balls you can get off in 30 seconds and you blow 3 o-rings at once. But that was with a non a/s tank and I was a little too curious. Any gun that is a blowback is fine on any kind of co2, however an a/s co2 tank is always better.

naw, HPA isnt a "must have" for a blowback like the TES, or the Torids, but it really, really is a step up. Prolly something to add to your christmas list ;)

Revy will do you fine, as a loader as well. But just be aware that it feeds a lot slower. So...with the eyes turned on, your gun MAY not shoot as fast as your fingers can pull the trigger, because of the eye not letting it shoot, because its not being fed fast enough. But....I'd rather be shooting slower, than cleaning out a chop. I REALLY would. (cleaning chops can be a REAL pain).
Not to try to convince you not to buy a revy, just to let you know, that it may slow the gun down some, with the eye turned on.

You can limit the boards to 10 bps and you most likely wouldn't chop. (Not so sure if you can do this on the new ones)

yep, anywhere from 1-20.

I know this is kinda off-topic, but my led dragunfly is capped at 10, and even tho its NOT slow. OMG it really feels like it is.

The Torid's rate of fire can be adjusted from 4 bps to 20 bps on the "Auto" setting, just like the TES.

i think odyssey had a video with a torid x or something running for a long time, continiously with CO2... And even after all that time, it still worked perfectly fine. The gun was frosty, and it was shooting "snow" ( i know its not snow, but ppl call it that, esp when dry ice comes out), but still managed to pull through :)

That was with the 02.

the one that they have up now, is the 02. Before they put up the "odyssey.tv" site, they had one of the torid.
