Your opinion please!

I think someone should come up with some form of paintball that is capable of exceeding 300fps. and still remain safe. Maybe some different material for the shells or something. Or if neccasary stronger masks.

So what do you guys think of this? Is it posible and if it is what do you think the drawbacks are to it and if you even know a way to do it how would you?

i think its hurt enough getting bunkered as it is at 300 fps. . . i have had shots brake skin, and i dont really want to find out what will happen if its higher . . . i think its fine now . . .

Why would you want it more FPS wouldnt that waste more gas and hurt more...besides keeping the balls under 300 FPS is good. They hurt enough. And i dont think your idea will ever happen:biglaugh: :elaugh:

no, its fps. FPS = Feet Per Second, PSI is Pounds/ Square Inch . . . psi is a pressure (operating pressure of a gun, high pressure tank limit etc. . . ) FPS is the speed of the ball . . .

Increasing the fps would not do much at all. In order to increase it, that would involve decreasing the mass of the paintball to make it hurt less. Decreasing the mass would make it less accurate in flight and would go off like you chopped a ball. Therefore there would be no use for lowing fps.

If you find paintballs hurt so much at close range why not just wear another layer of clothes? Also about them hurting more the idea is to make the ball travel faster without making them hurt any more or making them dangerous for that matter. Anyways I don't think it will happen either but I thought it might be kinda cool.

I woulnt be up to the idea of wearing layer upon layer of clothes on a good paintball day...too hot for me

Ya but I find thin layers don't make me really that much hotter and make a big difference in the impact of the ball.

Oh well I guess 300fps. will have to do and it's not exactly slow...

If you want more "range and longball play" then why dont you check out airsoft.

I swear i always see paintballers who want paintball guns in the future to have no nitro tank and no hopper; and they want the sport of paintball to become a huge 700ft scenario game..

If you want more range, and more realism check out airsoft. Paintball is a totally different game.. and i think just because it uses 'guns' that people; even paintballers that it simulates war, and thus needs to be played like war.

Well im just saying if you like to lay on your belly, in the mud.. w/ a realistic look barret sniper rifle w/o a nitro tank and w/o a hopper..and you see an enemy (not opponent like in paintball :| ) run accross the forest 900 ft away.. and you pick him off ... Then look into airsoft, cause that is not paintball. ...Paintball, is the rush of speedball.. the bunkering.. the gogging (not the "headshot"!) ..

this is how i feel anyway.. honestly though, dont feel like you are ditching paintball if you just LOOk into airsoft. It looks fun; i've never played it personally, but i wanna try someday.

no uhh.. airsoft is plastic beebees shot from replica guns.

It doesn't hurt, and there is no proof of how/if you got hit. The only thing about it is that you have a "gun" in your hands that looks like a real gun , but they are spring loaded (and air propelled I believe)and the more expensive guns are full auto electrics(like everything from AUGs to M16s and sniper rifles). Like at a distance, and sometimes close up they look completely real.

Sure it might look cool for a second.. but there is no true enjoyment in the sport... where is the fun in prancing about the woods with a plastic gun that can't acctually inflict pain?

Well the fact that you don't feel pain is a GOOD thing! The only thing that sounds bad about it to me is that you don't know for sure if you hit the target...

Airsoft is using those plastic realistic looking guns that fire little plastic bb's. The cheapest springer hand guns are about $30 and prices can go up into the thousands for fully automatic long range sniper rifles. The bb's travel at faster speeds and are smaller and hurt a great deal more than paintballs. The problem with airsoft is that it is honor based (you have to confess you've been shot) and some times you won't even realize you've been shot (or people lie) so it's not always a fair sport. So that makes tournaments and competitive play a bit hard to come by.

As for making paintballs more accurate and go further, my father (an avid shooter with real guns) says a more cylindrical pill/bullet shaped paintball will make the paintballs more aerodynamic and more accurate. Spheres are not a very aerodynamic shape to start out with, and by lengthening the projectile you make it more directional based and more stream lined. Having a tip to it would make it even more accurate and aerodynamic, but that would also make it more dangerous. This change in paintballs would make the gravity feeding hoppers and feeds no longer usable, and a gravity fed clip or magazine would have to replace it, along with a whole host of other modifications that would need to be made.

Cool I will have to at least give it a try sometime. Those guns look kinda cheesy except for the one that looks like and AK-47. That one looks kinda cool!

Your oponent would have less time to react to long ball shots and more range which if the balls were better shaped would be more accurate. (or at least seemless)
