I currently have a tippmann 98 custom with ups. i think im gonna sell it and get an A-5. I have an Ion for speedball, so im not worried about buying something with speed, this would be strictly woodsball.
1. My friend has a couple of snowmobiles, and there lake gets frozen over, and has islands on it. ( Perfect Paintball Scenario). So i need to know how it does in snow?
2. My family is getting lots of land, with woods and stuuf. So i need to know if i dropped it off a dirtbike, atv, ect, Would it be ok?
3. My friends and I are playing over long distances, so we set the fps at about 350-400 to get more distance. Of course I cant do that with a flatline so i need to know a nice barrel to get for it?
4.Is it worth it?
I want the most durable, cosistant gun.
Would the co2 freeze even with a remote line, if i played in the winter?

How cold does it get? Also I am guessing you could drop the A-5 from a balcony and it would still work.

Yeh I would recommend getting hpa then. If you do make sure it is a high pressure tank.

but how does it do in the snow, like if it got covered in snow

O it would probably do fine. You could get water on it and it wouild work fine I mean snow is just frozen water.

What you got to worry about though is the temp the pballs are at. Also, no matter what range ya'll are playing at, 350-400 fps is unsafe. Geta Flatline for long range. Set it to about 250-270 fps and you'll definitely out range them.

Actually, for the most part, a flatline wont give you more range. Only if there is lots of overhead tree/bush cover.

OK, More ACCURATE long-range. That should clarify it.

If you ask me, I'd say save the money and use it for your Ion, you can always sue that for the woods :/
but then again Tippmanns are very reliable and I would suggest HPA if you intend to play alot in the winter

Stick with your 98C, buy HPA, and turn down your friggin' velocities.
Just make sure to get a tank cover to protect it from all of this dropping it off of things you plan to be doing.

the thing people have to learn is, the farther the distance that a ball goes, the more it slows down... meaning if u hit something 55+ yds away if u can shoot that far... its almost completely unlikely that it will break. The velocity issue, u should just be slapped... hit somebody in the goggles within that range, crack their lense and if their smart youll be paying the money for replacements. I like my a-5, if u want one, just buy barrel for it,new forgrip (preference, but stock one is small) stock ,or whatever preference upgrades u want.

Were gonna be playing in thick woods, or in the winter, hence in the woods your gonna wear like a camo jacket, and in the winter you would be in snow close, (both heavy) so the paintballs will hurt about as much as 300 on skin if that. We are not going to be using frozen paintballs either. I have a Flatline and i find it not even close to as accurate as a normal barrel,( with normal Velocity.) Also about the HPA i understand that thats the best idea, but its also the most expensive, I heard that a remote line acts an expansion chamber, which should keep it from freezing a little longer right?

Ok you must have misunderstood it doesn't matter if the balls only feel like 300fps the fact is they could break your lense and possibly damage your eyes. If that happens you probably ain;t going to be playin paintball without the ability to see.
Edit: Since the flatline was made to go long distances it will probably be more accurate at those distances. I'm not sure never having used one. Normal barrels usually have better acuracy then the flatline in the 60-120ft range somebody correct me if I am wrong.

i'll tell u the same thing i tell all the other retards who say that they play with their velocities turned up for "long distance" or "to make it more realistic".
i seriously hope u either shoot somones eye out or cause permanant damage to either somone or (hopefully) yourself. i hope u hurt someone else so that they sue your family and cause u a lifetime of problems.

Ya you are right, but I can hardly tell the difference in accuracy at any range between a normal barrel and a well setup A5 flatline with HPA shooting marbs or orange evils(actually 2 A5's did that). At the same time I hardly noticed any real flatline range advantages as long as overhead cover didnt prevent lobbing that the normal barrel would need to go 150ft.
This (the first part) is something I just noticed last weekend.

So whats the highest fps that you can shoot safely then?
Is the A-5 flatline more accurate than a 98 custom flatline?
Coenen

300 is the maximum safe velocity. Anything above that and you run the risk of cracking ur lense or worse damage/loss of your eyes.
The A-5 flatline is in fact superior to the 98C version, it's shorter, more effective, and easier to install.

How about the cleaning process?
and remember, wiht a flatline, keep gun straight ^_^....if im not mistaken, ball will curve if turn gun sideways?
Coenen

It may be harder, but with the Cyclone and good paint it also is a moot point.
the thing about holding the gun vertically is correct though.

My friend was playing with his velocity at 400fps with his 98C and no chops.
-outlaw ball...no chrono, then got it chroned and showed 400fps :(, luckily i didnt get hit

There are scattered reports of 98 flatlines with HPA and a really good secondary regulator and the absolute best paint(good batch of marbs) and setup(see stan the hitman's presentation) being able to get a 1 ft circle(shot pattern) at 150ft. I personally, have never seen it. I have seen it on 2 A5s with HPA and Marbs. I have seen 98 flatlines shoot a 2ft pattern even without the absolute perfect setup, paint, etc. More often than not, 98flatlines give a 4ft or more pattern at 150ft.
A5 flatlines take much less effort to get any of the above mentioned shot patterns, but in the end, I believe(but am not absolutly sure of) that a 98flatline gives you more flat trajectory range(30ft or less).
If you like your 98 flatline, then cool, if not, then sell it and get another barrel(or gun).

a5 is not worth it unless you want a better flatline and are not satisfied with yours.....
I would say its less durable cuz of the cyclone feed on the side....
keep your m98 and play with a normal barrel on, and have a regulator and nitro for winter play
get the a5 if you want a good flatline, but I think its a tremendous ineficciency of money cuz the a5 isnt worth it, and m98s sell for very little when used
if you want a new gun, get an automag rt and nitro, they wont work with co2
