I am the Proud captin of Jokerz Wild, a 3/5 man novice all Tippmann tournament and scenairo team. The reason I am posting this is to show that Tippmann Model 98's can compete with the best of them. At our last tournament we came in 6th, yes I know that isn't really the best, but we lost 300 points due to one of the memebrs guns shooting way too hot on several occasions, he uses a 20 oz co2 and like most of you know, never hold the gun pointed down for too long because the gun will fill up with co2 causing it to shoot way hotter then what it is set for. Well anyway we maxed out half of the teams we played. We even got a bunch of bonus points for beating teams in under 2 minutes. We were the only all Tippmann team there. We faced cockers, busheys, angels, all those hi end guns. Most of the teams laughed when then saw us with our tricked Tippmanns. But thats what I like. Being underestimated is great in my opinion. Because then it is even more fun to see thier faces after you beat them. After the tournament most of the teams came up and congraulated us and commplemented us on our good performance. We were in last place to start out with, but after beating several teams we were able to work our ways back up. Now a company is considering sponsering us. But we are not sure if we want to take it yet. Beacuse they will probaly want us to move up to hi end guns. And we have agreed not to do that. We want to continue to prove that you can compete without spending over $1000 on your equipment. Our next tournament is Feb.17. I will be sure to let you all know how we do, we will be more prepared and we know that if we don't lose any points a top 3 finish is definite.

Congrads Platinum, to you and your team.
I love hearing stories like this one. It gives alot of inspiration to younger players that hear that their Tippmann just can not compete.

Ive owned my M98 (got it before the customs hit the scene) for years and somewhat recently purchased my Imp Vision. Not because my Tippmann was mediocre, but I wanted a marker geared more towards my speedball games. People ask me all the time, "Why didnt you sell that Tippmann when you bought your Impulse"? Well Platinum, your story proves exactly why I didnt sell mine.
Just goes to show ya, the gun does not necessarily make the man. What Tippmanns lack in fancy milling, annodizing, and LCD read-outs, they more than make up for in their durabilty, reliability, and performance. And to me that makes all the difference.

I got a tippy98c, works great, all my friends with spyders complain that their gun breaks down alot

i have played against people with cockers/angels, cocker impressed me with accuracy/distance...angel didn't impress me much....it's the player for the most part...

Tippmanns are great tournament guns. I'm a member of Team Ridge Boys a 3/5-man Am. team out of Kentucky. We are the new PRA Midsouth 3-man Series champions for 2001 & we all use Tippmanns. It's great to have teams that use Angels, Autocockers, etc. come up and ask us how we get our Tippmanns to shoot so fast. We've also had teams wanting us to build Tippmanns for them to use this coming season.
Like Platinum said, when teams that don't know us, see us for the first time, you here allot of whispering and laughing. But when they see us play some of the best 3-man teams in the Midsouth and win, their mouths fly open & they start coming up to us and ask questions about our guns. My biggest high light of the 2001 season was back in September when we played, in my oppinion, the best 3-man team in the Midsouth and beat them in 45 seconds. We took 1st. that day & maxed every game.

Hey Platinum, I'll probably see you at the National Indoor. Our team might not be able to play but I'll be there to watch.

WOW!!!!!!. Ridge Boy, congrats on winning that series, that is a big series. I am so glad my team and I aren't the only ones out there doing this. Showing that its the players that make the gun, not the gun that makes the player. I hope to see ya at the Indoor National Championship, you will probaly be able to spot me easy, I probaly be the only one with a Tippmann, which doesn't bother me at all. Actually it kinda motivates me. Hope to see ya there. If you don't mind me asking, what all do you have on your Tippmann?

*HPS Performance modified V3 vertical feed 98 Custom body in Krazy Dipped purple/gold finish
*Tippmann E-bolt kit
*HPS Performance low pressure modification(200psi.)
*HPS modified double trigger with adjustment screws
*PMI THOR Reg. with PMI dropforward
*Pure Energy 88cu.in. 4500psi
*LAPCO Bigshot barrel
*R2k hopper

As you can see, my Tippmann is far from being stock, but it's still a Tippmann & I'm proud of it. I also have a Freak barrel kit but I hate it. The inserts are very inconsistant. Even matching the paint, I've broken more balls in the Freak in two games than I ever have in two years with the Bigshot.

I have some pictures of the wins in the BloodHoundz link

I'm going to have to go along with this thread. Tippy's can hold their own in tourny's. Me and another person had tippys. while the third member tried to chrono in a spyder. it wouldn't go above 240. no luck. he tried a piranha that he brought. Oops...the rva fell out, can't adjust the velocity on that. He ended up using a tippy he had brought (kid brought wayyyy to much s#it with him) and we did prettywell. It was a tournament series and we ended up placing higher than some of the teams that had played in all of the games. We did hear some guy complaining his Angel wouldn't work...but that was after he got shot out. Because at the beginning of the game, I know it was shooting fine. Moral of story....tippys can hold their own.

I am extremly happy to see that me and my team aren't the only ones out here showing those players with their "Hi End Guns" that Tippmanns can compete with the best of them. Every tournament gets even better abd better, because I see players that usually play walk on come out and play with their new Tippmanns and compete. I am glad that around where I live, people are starting to look at skill more then flashy paint jobs and fancy firing modes.

Tippmanns? COmmon tourney guns?
NOt really in the tourneys that ive seen.

Cockers seem to be the #1 choice for tourney players.

I got this cocker in my sig for x-mas because it was gonna turn out cheaper than totally trickn' my m98c, but after going to this scenario game last weekend and seeing all the sweet tippy set ups in action, I think my next project is gonna be makin my m98 the sweetest in the world! I saw the e-bolt, and DUDE! My friend's storm frame couldn't keep up with it. I also had a guy shoot me dead on in the goggs with a flatline. But, I've got a question.
Will my m98c work on nitro without an LP kit?
Can you have a drop-forward too if you have the E-bolt kit?
Last, would havin an e-bolt AND a flatline on the same gun really be that frigged up?

Hey Wwooper.
I always love hearin stories about Tippys holding their own against high end markers. Just proves to show ya that it really is the man(or woman) that makes the gun, not vise versa.

In response to your question, yes you could run nitro on your tippmann without getting the lp kit. Normally, tippmanns run on somewhere around 800-850 psi. So a screw-in nitro tank with a fixed pressure in that range will do ya nicely.
The advantage of the lp kit is that you can operate at a much lower pressure, creating more consistantancy shot-to-shot and have less ball breakage.

Yes, you can use a dropforward with the E-bolt kit. I use a PMI Perfect Dropforward with the THOR Reg.

After talking with some members of my team. We are soon gonna be starting a movie. 24 karat productions is gonna do the producting and directing. The movie is gonna be kind of a documentary on my team and what we do. It will be a month in the lives of our team, practices, drills, preperation, stratagies and then the tournaments. It will show what our team is trying to achevie, to be one of the best teams out there, with what some people call "Low End" guns, but we all know that, "Low End" isn't even close to being true. Weather other teams like it or not, we have guns that perform on the same level in a lot of aspects or even higher, and we payed $1000 less. We know we aren't gonna win the world cup or nothing, but we want to show that we can compete and this movie will hopefully show that. We aren't trying to make money off of this, after we finish we will probaly offer the movies for free.
