Have you guys ever heard of Ballistic bunkers? Well I saw there product in pb2x magezine and It gave me an idea, To make my own bunkers out of pvc and fabric.

Well i've made 3 bunkers with 30 dollars and they are NICE, But I was wondering. Has anyone else done this?

Just get pvc and some fittings... Look at it this way, PVC is a big boys building blocks, You make the right shape you want and then you wrap it in fabric.

ohh thats nice.

i like it. lightweight too...perfect!

Yeah, all you need to do is tie it down with a few stakes.

And im starting on an INDOOR pvc bunker project.

The only downfall to that is you can't really overslide into the bunkers like you can with airball. If you do it would probably tear the fabric.

Nex2005

better than 3 to 4 thousand dollar air bunkers in my opinion :D

Aguy43
07-19-2005, 10:55 AM
Yeah that is true, but you could reinforce it and add some cotton behind the fabric backed up with more pvc.

What kinda fabric? Me and my friends used tarp and plastic stuff and the paintballs went through.

Pics?

Yeah, its fine. You just can't be sliding into the bunkers.

A great practice field

Any kind of fabric that works, I use Black bed sheets and tarp. But the tarp has never ripped on me. Also I use the fabric that is used on tents.

I had the same exact Idea when I saw those bunkers in that magazine but I never got around to doing it cuz of Work/school etc.
Have you tried tent stakes to hold them down?

PICS!!!

if you made it so you could dissesemble them than you could put the whole field in 2 or 3 pickup trucks.

my dad works for the phone co. so he has acces to all kinds of spools and pallets, to bad all the land around me is prime real estate :(

Someone made it on PBN...or was it it PBvids? They work pretty well. Just look around in both.

If you want to prevent the bunkers from ripping, you can try keeping the material you wrap around them kind of loose. Not so loose that you are using twice the amount of material you need, but loose enough where it might absorb a paintball blow.

One downside is that you cant push into the bunkers with your barrel...but its still a good practice idea.

Sorry about that I was FISHIN! And I've ramed into those bunkers and they didint tear, just get strong fabric and make it tight.

07-19-2005, 07:45 PM
Why make them tight? It'll be easier to rip then...Make them a little looser so there for the fabric can absorb the paintballs a little easier and there won't be so much tension in each spot.

Or you could put spikes behind it, that'd teach you not to overslide:dodgy:

Well I thought of that and the bunkers looked really tacky, Mine dont rip at all because the fabric is great and layerd.

Good idea.

I know there is a bunch of that patio wrap somewhere at my house. It is basically just like the paintball net, but stronger. It is only made to keep wind and sun out of places like dog kennels and patios. It is very strong too. I figure if I wrap in this, and line it with some cheaper fabric on the inside I can keep it tight. Because it is a net like material you have to line it.

i looked at ABS pipe today, it's pretty expensive. Are you using the thick black stuff or the beige colored thinner stuff?

get 3/4" pvc, or 3/4" cpvc, pvc is white, cpvc is a creme color.

i think its like 3-4 bucks for 10-12' of it. I use the stuff all the time at school to make stupid stuff bc its free in shop, but also very cheap. certain fittings can be expensive, generally their around 20-45 cents a piece.

Nex2005
07-21-2005, 11:03 AM
ok, i thought you meant the black abs stuff.

what sort of fittings did you use?say for a taco bunker, you would need a 3 'pronged' fitting, i cant say ive seen one of those.

Aguy43
07-21-2005, 12:07 PM
I am going to make my backyard field with this stuff, I'd say about 80$ for the whole field (Probably more for fabric.)

And now that my friend has a digital camera Ill be able to post pics soon.

Your local Ace or Osh or Lowes or Home Depot knows what they are. Just show him a diagram of what you want. Yes everybody diagrams are good, so you know what you are making before you mess it up.

The fitting you are think are T fittings, but it isn't flat it. Easy to imagine you've probably seen it just never had to use it.

If anyone is wondering, get PVC, not ABS. PVC is cheaper, stronger and more abundant.

heres what was on pbnation

there pics on this link
http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=998052&page=1&pp=21

heare the basics

The frames are made with 90* fittings and T fittings, if you can find the corner fittings use them.

The tarp is held on with Zip Ties.

If you want good dimensions visit SupAir and copy their designs, that way you can make your own versions of npps fields and such.

hey guys

I've made a whole field of bunkers with 2x2's and 2x4's and it's great but....

the fabric we used to wrap them with was that heavy duty garden fabric that stops weeds from growing. We couldn't break it with our hands at all so we figured it would work...but the paintballs shot completely thruogh it every time.

We're already way over budget so we need an idea for a CHEAP fabric to use. We tried a bedsheet and that worked..but they are pretty expensive too.

We've estimated that we need anywhere between 500 to 800 square feet.

If you go to cheap motels they sometimes throw away bed sheets for some reason. DUMPSTER DIVE and at construction sites they have alot of tarp.

You realize they only throw away the soiled ones, right?

I'm sure that would be okay. It would give you mroe incentive not to dive into the bunker besides the fact that you can break it.

well this morning we tried hardboard, heavy duty clear plastic sheets, and vinyl siding for a house and all broke under my shots.

sheets worked, but i don't think they will last long outside.

Running out of ideas...

oh and add blue tarp and dense styrofoam to the list too, just tried it.

if you get a bunch of metal window screan ing (you can buy it like almost any where) paint it (the paint will fill in the holes) so pple cant see you and the balls shouldent go thu!
