it maybe uncomfortable to wear but i recomend it a lot i have been shot in the throat twice and it hurts ALOT MORE when your not wearing it. when i got shot in the throat both times i was coughing up blood for about 15 minutes to a half hour.

I don't see how it couldn't. It would probably be very rare, but if it was close enough, the gun was shooting hot, or you were just totally exposed there, I bet it could happen.

If you don't have a problem wearing it, wear it man. I've gotten to the point, where I'm so used to not wearing it, It's far too distracting to put one on. I've been shot there, and it hurts like hell. I didn't die, but my voice has been slightly different since. Anyhow, if you can manage to wear one, do it

Yes, it can. It's a pretty small area that has to be hit, but it's fully exposed unless you're wearing protection. Wear your throat guard.

not really the hirt wont stop the fce of th shell hitting the neck it wont do anything without at least 1" of solid padding like a neck protector conclusion--if the ball hurts it isnt good

I've been hit dead on the middle of the throat twice, and at an angle a few times. For me, none of them have hurt more than a regular paintball hit, and I've had no problems (raspy voice or coughing blood) because of it.
Maybe I just had a large windpipe to feed my large mouth??

Then how come people don't have to wear some sort of neck protector when playing tournaments or at fields or anything?

I wear a dog collar on the field when my dad doesn't come. Great protection, stylish, and the pyramid studs are intimidating. Get one at your local Hot Topic today!

Ignorance... or arrogance... or an unhealthy combination of both.

It's not ignorance or arrogance, at least in my case anyway. I've weighed the options and made a conscious decision. If you wish to ascribe a vice to the choice, then you can call it stinginess. When presented with the choice between spending $9 and strapping up each game, or the remote chance of bright shiny neck pain for a few glorious seconds, then I choose the pain and keep the $9 in my pocket.

I just try not to look up for the extent of the game. Also it is a reaction for people to look down to protect their face and neck while they get hit. Still cant predict those stray shots however.

I find being comfortable an important aspect of my game. If I've got something distracting me because it's warm, iteches or whatever, I'm not gonna be playing at 100 percent. Every tiny little edge I can get is important to me, so I play in what's comfortable. I think there's also a bit of a stygma at the tournament level about neck protectors. Since nobody wears em, the person who did might be viewed as a wimp. Then again, I may be wrong

I don't mean why don't you where them I mean why don't you HAVE TO where them during tournaments. As in why is it not manditory?

I've never heard of a case of anyone dying from a paintball hitting them in the neck, so I don't think it's really a big issue

I got hit in the neck/throat area once and man it hurt. I couldn't talk for two days. It was by my friend and his flatline tippy. The damn paintball curved up and hit me.
