View Full Version : newbish tournament experiences
what are some newbish type things youve seen, or even done, at a tournament? sorry if this has been posted before, but i didnt see it.
one thing i did was forgot to fill my air in the one game and ran out while i was bunkering someone..i still got him out cuz somehow i hit him on the hopper, but the other guy got me cuz i had 0 air left.
also this past week my local field had a tourny i could not attend, and one guy hung the flag on the wrong side. it woulda been a sweep but the other team got the points for the hang

my cousin got confused because one of his team mates was shhoting behind him so he jumped to the other side of the bunker and got shot like 12 times-and the next game someone called paintcheck so the ref was running out to him and i shot the hell outta the ref

I saw someone get down on their stomache all sniper like in a tourney, needless to say he was out 5 seconds later.
Also, our team made a silly mistake. We were in a close fight with this one team. We get one of them out, they get on of us out until it's down to 1 vs. 1. Our guy eventually wins the shootout in dramatic fashion and hangs the flag. BUT it turns out his pack had some paintsplatter from another game that he forgot to clean up. We wound up losing 50 points because of that, and 50 ended up being just enough to make us have to pack our gearbags early:(
And the refs at the field made a newbish mistake too. The first game of the tourny, one team eliminated all of the other players and then one guy went to the 50 and started looking around very confused. Turns out the refs forgot to put a flag on the field:laugh:
o yea i forgot. this one time, our first tourny, the one kid on my team brought his gun up to quick and his hopper completely flew off. it was right off the break and needless to say he didnt have a locking feedneck, just stock one.

ya newbish bunkering while only holding your gun with one hand show pretty bad form. you should all ways have both hands on your gun if possible
oh i thought you meant that the guy you bunkered had one hand. that makes a lot more sense of being a newbish thing lol

I've been out of commision with paintball for the past few weeks due to my back. we were practicing for a tourny in the rain(drizzling a little) and there were puddles and mus behind a lot of the bunkers. No one would play them because they were little sissies and didn't want to get dirty, but I sure as hell did. Now, needless to say this is the day that I don't wear cleats and ended up having my feet fly out from under me and landing almost vertically(hard) on my lower neck/upper back. My doctor tells me that I either slipped a disk, or I chipped a peice of bone off the vertebrae. Most likely the second one because if it was a slipped disk it would have started healing already. So yeah, wear cleats in the rain......

I've got something more embarassing. Monkey bars I fell landed in a sitting position needless to say broke my tailbone and compacted my vertebrae I was about 11/2-3in. shorter.

He wrote on all of my notes for work "undetermined". So I'm guessing a long while. It still hurts to breath deep so I don't think I'll be doing anything with paintball besides coaching/teching/and watching for the next month or 2.

That's why I wear combat boots even when it's not raining.
Of course, my field is muddy even when there is a drought, but that's not the point :dodgy:
