Hello,
i just purchased the tippman 98 custom. I played one day with it so far. i like the fact the gun is light and small but on thing i dont like is that it doesnt shoot accuatly at long distance. Short distance i can shoot a dime but anything ove 50 yards the ball curves to the left or right. i am using good balls"quake" i tried adjusting the velocity.
Now my discrepancy is, should i modify my tipman and get the flat line barrel and will this solve my problem or should i return my gun and get the autococker. i know this is a forum about mid level guns so dont get upset i am just new and want an honest opinion.

just get a good aftermarket barrel. I guess if you are looking for long range the flatline is good but for accuracy get a normal barrel. There are so many good ones out there its hard t choose so try to find one that matches your paint.

So what are you saying. i dont understand when you say get one that matches your paint. so by changing my barrell it will make the gun more accurate. Do you recommend upgrading to the autococker?

dont upgrade to a cocker, its not for newbies. what hes talking about is bore sizes. there is three different sizes, of course(small, medium, large). you want to match up a small bore paintball with a small bore barrel or medium with medium for the best performance.

thanks you guys for all your help. i just started playing last weekend. it was a blast. we are planning to play every weeked now and we are thinking of getting a team together.
what would be a good barrel and a good size for my 98 custom and do i have to make any other changes if i get a longer barell. i heard that if you get a longer barell you shoud get a differant bolt and some spring thing. is this true and if so can you make som good reccomendations.
thanks a lot guys.

If you change your barrel you dont' have to change anything else like the bolt. There are many good barrels, for instance i use the J & J Ceramic barrel which is a good deal for 40 bucks. I have good luck using PMI premium, RPS Marbs, or Diablo Blaze paint in my barrel. Like i said there are many good barrels out there so just pick one you like or have heard good things about.

You don't have to change anything in your gun in order to use a new barrel.
