View Full Version : Battery life?

How long do your guys batteries in your Torid X last. Mine only lasted about half the day today, although it was shooting great and fast when it was working, but the battery died alot faster than I expected, I ended up turning off the gun before I left the field in order to save the battery, but luckily I had my cocker.

All in all, it was a good day of play though, got rid of some annoying cocky kids, got some good welts, my friend and I got asked to be on a team, but good day.

I don't know how long the battery should last because my TES doesn't have a rechargable battery like the Torid X

but can't you "shim the noid" to increase battery efficiency, I am not 100% sure someone back me up here cuz I nothing about "noid shimming"

I am not exactly sure how long it should last, but I know it is more than half a day. After a while, rechargable batteries lose alot of their power. After being charged and drained and charged and drained over and over and over again, they lose a lot of their charge and don't last as long. So if you have had your Torid X for a long time this could possibly be a problem. Are you sure that you charged it correctly? If so, try getting a new battery. Darkewolf has a link to the guide on shimming the noid in his sig, you may want to check that out, but I don't know how many more shots that will give you. So, your best bet would be to get a new battery or maybe you just didn't charge yours long enough. At least it didn't ruin your day of paintball though.

This is the first time that I have played with it, so it cant be worn out. Im gonna check back to the manuel and see how long I am supposed to charge it.

Wow first time...I think I remember reading something that the very first time you charge it you charge it differently but after that you charge it normally...I'm not exactly sure though, but check the manual and tell us what you find.

Man, my manuel is all wrinkled up, it rained while we were paintballing yesterday. But the manuel says to charge for 1 hour, and thats how long I have been charging it. It could be that I was there acting like an airsmith to a whole bunch of annoying, cocky little punks for an hour, and that could have drained the battery. Does the Torid X have an autoshutoff, because once I picked it up to go back out and play after fixing some kids Tippman (bone dry, could tell it had never been oiled) and some Game Face Vexor thing (really needed to replace the orings on the bolt) I picked uo the gun and it was turned off, at first I thought the batteries were dead, but I was able to turn it on, but the battery icon was almost empty.

I'm sure that was part of the problem and it probly didn't recieve a complete charge because I think that the first charge is supposed to be Two hours or something like that so that might explain it
charge it for an hour before you play next and then see if it lasts all day
if there is still a problem you might need to replace the battery

This is a quote from the Odyssey manual (which I hope to have formatted soon for my sticky):

- POWER - Allows you to select the type of
power feature. Once the POWER feature is displayed,
the feature parameter can be changed by pressng
the set button.

- AUTO - Shuts the marker down after 20 minutes
with no user input.

- SAVE - Turns the display off after 20 minutes
to conserve energy. The power indicator light will
blink when the display is turned off to sow that the
marker is still LIVE! The display will only appear
again when one of the control panel's button are
pressed.

CONT - Continuos enables the LCD to be active the entire time the marker is on.

As pbrascal said, the first charge is 2 hours, after that 1 hour. So next time you play charge it for an hour or a little over (leaving the charger on for more than a few hours can kill the battery or even fry your board). You should be fine, just change your setting to the AUTO mode described above, and you should be fine.

At least you still had a good day of paintball, nothings worse than a gun not working when you start to play:cool:

So thats what the Auto Setting means. I have it on Save right now, but I dont remember reading that in my manuel, maybe mine is missing a page. But yah, good thing I just bought that Cocker, cuz I love that thing now. My Torid is gonna be my tinker gun, see how fast I can get it ripping. Im going to order a 50g switch this week, but it will be through mail order, so it could be a while.

That power save feature wasn't included on the 2k3 TES boards was it, cuz it says it in the manual but it doesn't work

Jenkins

That was from a Torid X manual (what I posted) and I'm pretty sure my TES was a 2k3 and it didn't have that option.

well, I learned the hard way that you cant shim a noid in a TES. the solenoid is packed into the frame so close that any kind of shim in there causes problems with the sear not pushing far enough to catch the striker in the cocked position when its got air in it.
I was using a piece of cardboard from a cheese cracker's box in mine, and it wouldnt work. very thin cardboard. so the tolerances in the TES is pretty tight. I'm guessing that it would be the same in the Torid.
cant say for sure on a torid, cause they have those rechargable batts. but with a duracel, my tes gets about 10,000 to 15,000 clicks, before the batt starts getting low enough to affect shots. thats with the eye off, tho.
mine is a 2k4 tes, and it will shut itself off after about half an hour of not being shot, or tinkered with.

My stays on until the battery dies or I remember that I put it away or left it sitting there with it still on:(

DarkeWolf

that sucks :(
maybe its something that you have to set manually?

I screwed up earlier....with the shim in the solenoid, the sear doesnt drop far enough to let the striker fully travel forward when there's air in it, not what I said earlier. had to rethink the problem, lol.

I wanna find out if it works on the Torid...I'm not sure how different the inside of the frame is from a TES.

DarkeWolf

I'd like to know how much difference there is in the frames as well.
somebody with a torid give it a try, let us know :)

Ill give it a try as soon as I can.

On a slightly different topic, I just ordered a 50g T-Switch :D Hope its not too hard to install.

hardest part is getting the plugs out of the stock dragun jack. Best way ive found is to use a saftey pin, or needle, to lift the tab on the jack up so you can pull the plugs out.

My o3x goes off after 15mins, by the by. It lasts about 4 cases of paint before perfomance gets erratic.

I didnt like the t-switch that I got. but its definitely a fast switch.
I just use a screwdriver from one of those repair kits for glasses to get them out of the jack. taking the boards out and getting them back in, is the chore, to get to the jack. more getting them back in with all the wires not pinched or anything.

Oh, I can get that stuff out easy, I take apart my stuff all the time, I have already messed with all the stuff in the frame.
