This is 30 minutes after the Spam Attack that occurred On July 27th 2005. This is a serious situation, PBR is understaffed...

Note: I'm not attacking the mods, They are great, and they do what they can. But while the Population PBR hasn't grown significantly to require more staff, the threat of Spam HAS.

This isn't the first time its happened, And I have no doubt it wont be the last. Ignoring it wont make it go away.

i noticed that too. when i saw the first posts i reported them, then surfed over to that page to find what mod was on that i could get on aim, only to find that.

not that i can blame them for having lives, but if we had more supers, there'd be a greater chance of catching one online during a spam attack.

or if we gave regular mods the powers needed to deal with that.

You have to realize what is going on here.

It's summer. The little kiddies who have nothing better to do than to spam our forum all they can have nothing better to do with their lives. It's going to happen. It's going to get caught once a mod comes on that can take care of it.

Sure we could make 30 super mods, but what would be the point of having a normal mod then?

This isn't the first time this has happened and we all know it's not the last. There's always going to be things that take a bit of time to get caught, but they get taken care of in the end. Just be patient.

Guys...you seriously need to relax. 30 minutes is nothing. Is the spam hurting you in any way. No, bypass it, click the report button and move on to the useful posts out there. We'll clean it up, but in the scheme of things in life, idiots from PBNation that think there's some type of rivalry or something really aren't worth the trouble.

We can't be on every second of every day. We can't catch everything either. You, the members, are our eyes and ears with reporting posts and keeping things somewhat clean and topics in the right place. I thank those that report what they see.

Us mods have lives we have to live. We're not online all the time. With me, between work and summer fun, I can't be on all the time. With college approaching soon and still working, I'll probably be on even less.

The spam attack was dealt with in the best manner possible for the time. A half-hour turnover isn't so bad when some attacks have been half the night. Be patient and help us help the site. Thanks.

We're not asking the mods to be on 24/7 patrolling the forums and having no lives. We're just asking for more mods. If theres more mods, theres a greater chance one of them will be on when a spam attack happens. There is really no downside to having more mods. It won't waste bandwith, you don't have to pay them, and they can stop spam!

i think the point of this thread is that more supers won't hurt the site. seems like some of you just don't want to see more supers created, but why not? all they can do is help keep the site quality up.

we have enough supers just not enough that come to the site. its only like halliday and Jaster that come. it would make the site look like a nice place, maybe a parent might be on during a spam attack deciding if this is a safe site for their child. Them seeing lemon parties might make us loose a member that might be smart. i know thats a 1 in a hundredbazilliongajilliontrillion chance but it could happen.

I've been through hella spam attacks, and we've been asking for more supers for a long time, or at least some more staff with OT powers. It hasn't happened yet, and it probably won't for awhile. People just can't accept the obvious benefits... they just see the downfalls... and guess what? There isn't any. :dodgy:

Pants, has there been THIS GOD DAMN MANY threads requesting for more Supers? Sure PBR has gotten alot bigger but I think these threads are just going to continue until we get more supers/admins/whatever. Also, I looked on PBN and they have multiple Admins (I know that supers are just like admins in almost every way, but still.).

The thing with Mods/Supers is you have to deal with the ebb and flow of life. Some people have to leave to deal with bigger issues than a internet paintball forum.

I think mods and supers are fine with the...."powers" they have. If a mod sees a disturbing or inappropriate post he could simply delete it and notify some sups asap.

What most of you don't seem to realize is that appointing more mods can be a bad thing. If we were to appoint just anyone to super...myself, for example, we could end up with people being banned for poor English skills. Would that be good for PBR?

Except for the fact that mods only have powers in their assigned forums.

The only regular mods who have power in OT are Ebonclaw and Trumby. The only other people that have power in OT other those those 2 are Andrew and Supers.

I just think we should give the mods who are on most of the time either modding powers in general and OT or making them supers. But since it's completely up to Andrew (and maybe the Supers?), it's up to them.

Legend= mods retirement, they can still go and post in the mod forum. Our only one is Crime Dog and Ebon used to be, and I think Ice is aswell, but his title hasn't been changed.
