I am looking into starting a team and have a question. Generally what kind of guns/equipment are best in what position. Also I usually play mid/front, IF I were to buy a new gun before too long, what kind should it be? I'm not nessicarily asking for a specific gun, just what kind of traits should i look for.

well you have the option to slap an e-blade on your cocker because they are now selling adapters for the trilogy series. you could sell you cocker and get an ion or B2K or wrath. you could get a used imp for like $200 or so. just try out some diff guns and pick the ones that you like the feel of.

I'm trying to not have to sell the trilogy so that i could have a spare gun. The E-Blade is a viable option but i would still like to keep the trilogy as a spare if i could. I would be selling my airsoft gun to help buy a new gun($250-300), plus any money i can earn.
I am currently looking at an Automag, although an Ion still looks like my best bet if I can't afford the Mag.

Well first of all being comfortable, decent, and semi accurate are good things.Fast, accurate, light, and little to moderate drop are other things you should look at. Also the ease of mainance and options [eyes, etc.] and upgradable are other factors. Some markers are very upgradeable and others arent....those that dont have many upgrades tend to be all you need out of the box [IE. Phantoms, EGOs, CYBORGs]. But overall it should be what YOU or the person using the marker is capable and comfortable using. You shouldnt use a marker that is uncomfortable to use and is to complex for you to understand. You need to be able to use and diagnose any troubles quickly and accurately with the marker.

Back players markers should be fast, accurate, and have little drop. The back players job is to keep cover for front players and to "spot" and let teammates know where people are. The should be able to lock the field down and keep the other team from moving so a fast accurate marker is good.

Mid players markers should be again fast, accurate, and have little drop [but medium drop is acceptable due to positions/locations played]. Mid players are a bit of an all around player that can take a back spot or a front spot or keep in the mid region and keep things in check, moving if needed to areas where a weak spot is or to fill for a eliminated player.

Front players should have a marker that is accurate, light, and can have little to moderate drop on them. They need to be able to move quickly so a light set-up is a huge plus. They tend to carry little paint as to keep a small profile so a accurate marker is a big bonus. And of course because they are closer to the other team drop can be a bit more, but should still be little to moderate incase something happens.

Now when I say drop I am referring to the trajectory of the ball, as it travels farther it drops more and thus the farther back in the field you are the more you must angle your marker to get the ball to the target. Some markers have more drop then others.

Judging by your budget I would say the ION or WRATH are good bets. Personally I love mags, but unless its an RT-Valve or Xvalve its slow and the pull is heavy and its slow. The ION offers eyes, a light pull and other good features for the price. A new reg and a barrel kit are about all you need for the ION to be ready [sans A/S CO2 or HPA]. But if you have trouble with paint usage a PHANTOM is good, but some people are not comfortable with a pump marker in a semi-auto dominated sport.
