View Full Version : Which to sell?
Hey guys, recently I'dve decided to get rid of one of the two guns. Both have served me well,( for the most part ) But now the question is which Should I sell?
#1 TES
Good:
nyltron bolt
JJ barrel,
valve pin,
Faster sensitive trigger, electronic, better trigger feel.
Eyes
Bad:
uncocks every 20 shots or so
loud
bad reg,
rather big compare to mag
Auto Mag RT
Good
ULE body
lvl 10
intelli frame
boomstick
dye grips
sys drop
steady stream of shot
good gripage, small and compact
bad:
stiff trigger,
intelliframe is nothing but a response trigger, SLOW ROF
lvl 10 is good, but eh..
the trigger is my biggest complaint
which one is a better to sell and which one in your eyes is betteR? to sell or just to use in general?

considering the tes is a blowback i would say get rid of it.

i think u should sell the mag. The problems with the TES can be fixed releatively easily. People here can help you with the uncocking and choosing a reg. The Mag has a slower rate of fire, and if your gonna play in tourneys i dont think it would keep up. Also the upgrades. I think it would be cheaper to upgrade a TES because its spyder based.
I would sell the mag, and buy some upgrades with the money for your TES
:D
how would i fix that uncocking thing? I swear that TES is like a women on her period. OOne day she works like a charm, the other day she hates you. How do I get that fixed? If I do stay with the TES? And yes, the MAg wouldn't work cuz technoically a response trigger.

i Quote from a post by DarkeWolfe:
"the velocity spikes could also be part of whats causing it to not recock. they will do that if there is too much pressure, or not enough pressure.
co2 is just inconsistant, and will cause spiking regardless of how good the reg is. But the dragun reg is inconsistant to start off with, so its only adding to the problem. Anti-siphon on the tank will help out a little bit, but I would still recommend a better reg and hpa.
if you're gonna stay with the co2 I'd recommend a reg like the Palmer's Stabilizer. Or if your gonna move up to hpa something like a CP reg, or bob long torpedo. Or...if you've got the money to throw around, an AKA sidewinder or 2-liter.
Crossfire makes excellent tanks. if you're hard up for cash, you can find some of their 47/3000 tanks for 50-80 bucks if you shop around."
Looks like that cheap reg of yours is part of your problem

from what ive read, adding oil to your gun to lube it may solve the problem. Also making sure the reg is set properly at about 400 psi (which is low for a blowback). The reg may not be recharging fast enough too.

i think for the upgrades, and the fact that its a BLOWBACK makes it better, considering many people want a stable gun.. Blowbacks Generaly are alot easier to repair and maintain Im not just looking at the type of gun, or the company im helping him/her make a deciscion based on the speed, upgrades and reliablility. (less parts=easier to fix)

sell the TES, mag is much more reliable and last forever, you don't need that much ROF, unless your a backman
or sell both and get a better gun that's EP

wow....I'm getting referenced from other threads. that put a warm spot on my day. :)
heyas Z315! Its been a lil bit of a while since you've been around, here in dragun/odyssey.
I'm kinda wondering if maybe your cocking problems might be the bolt itself. if maybe it is swelling a little bit, or something. or maybe you've got a spring that is getting worn out.
For resale value, I'd say the mag would get you a better price. The resale on a TES anymore is just crap. 150 is the average, and with the ups that you've got on it, maybe 200-225.
But so far as which one to keep, I would definitely have to say whichever one that you enjoy shooting the most. The one that you are going to miss less, once it's gone. If you like shooting them both the same, then keep the one that is gonna serve the way that you play, the best.
and....I think we need to get your cocking issue fixed, if you decide the TES is the one that you decide to part with.
Thank you for such a warm welcome back darkewolf! Yes it has been a while, mainly it's because I haven't have much time to play so had very little issues with my marker. Truely I enjoy shooting the TES a bitmore. Maybe because I developed a thing between the marker, and plus anything that has survied my shot put across the field earns my respect. As much as I like the TES, it just gives me the same problem over and over again, and it's the whole reocking issues. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it dosen't. Kinda reminds me of my girlfriend when she's on her period (no offence to any ladies out there, believe me. I love each and every one of you female paintballers.) I have already made up my mine about selling the Mag I just recently aquired, (it's on ebay if you gusy want to check it out) But now I'm thinking wheather or not I should sell my TES is well. And perhapes get something a little more reliable? Again with the same questions that gets asked in this forum over and over again.

a big part of why the TES has problems recocking is that the valve dosent alow much air to flow to the hammer for recock. There are new valvepins etc, or you could replace the whole valve.
If you could get a higher end gun with the money from both the RT and the TES id say go for it. If not then id stick with the TES.
I think I'm going to do that. Sell the TES also, I mean, I already added a new valve pin, helped, but didn't get rid of the problem. Bolt, didn't really help either. Springed it, and oiled.. didn't help that much. So I guess now the question is what is out there for me that's worth my buck?

well, intimidators are always good, imps, vikings...pretty much you name it and it will rock. If you wanna stick with a Dragun/Odyssey product, id suggets either a T1/o2 or a o3x.
Ive clocked my o3 (via the boards cycle indicator, which isnt that accurate) at around 22bps. Ill be interested to see what the true cycle rate is when i get around to Packing it.

No prob Z315 :) Its good to see you back around in here.
Yeah, I know what you mean about not getting to play. Tho for me, its cash.
Shotput, haha that reminds me of the story of when my captain decided that his led angel was gonna learn to fly.
LOL I'm gonna stay away from that whole time of the month thing. I know what you are talking about, and I cant help but agree, but....I'm just staying away from any further comments, lol ;)
Since you've decided to go ahead and sell them both, and you dont really have as much time as you would like to be able to play.... If it was me, I'd stay in the $300 range. Maybe go with some of the markers that loon suggested, or check with RCXpaintball on here about what kind of deal he could get you on an Ion or Wrath.
How well are the T1/o2 or a o3x? Honestly I haven't really been keeping up with the paintball gear and I'm way behind. Are they a little cheaper comparing to the other 300 range markers such as the ion or wraths? honestly i have never shot them or seem him in person so I have very little knowledge. besides the reviews. But I get these feelings that lots of 12-14 year old. As for the wraths and Ions I have seen and heard breakdowns of wrath, but yet nothing on the ION yet. just want to get some info from you guys before jumping into the bang wagon of ION owners of america.
Or Maybe I shouldn't sell my TES....

well i own a o3x, and so far it seems to be as good as any of the guns ive shot so far. Ive upgraded mine a bit tho. the stock LPR is pretty crapy, but thats about the only thing i think REALY needs changing.
You can get them fro around 250.
The Wrath has basicly the same internals as the o3s but they are smaller in diamter and longer. Function should be about the same.
The ion is a blowforward spring return spool valve. its a pretty cool design, and im sure its quite functional. The only real problem with the gun, is that all the little punk that own them (Pat if you read this im not talking about you).
sorry i had some dude tell me his ion was better then my viking the other day. Even challanged me to a race thinking his ramping ion would win. Now with the new software on my viking its got ramping also.
back on track tho......if you were realy into tinkering you could piece together the parts for an intimidator and convert your TES to a Drammy pretty easily. Total costs are usualy around 150-600 for the project depending on parts.
Ive prett much listed the guns i think you would like. The only other options that i would realy suggest, would be older matracies. They shoot as good as the dms but are larger, heavier, and cost about 1/4th as much.
Keeping your TES is probobly what i wouldo. Its pretty capable of keeping up with any gun on the market stock. you DO need to solve the cocking problem that seems to be inharent in the gun. Some use new valve, some just the valve pin, some new strikers....id actualy like to get another tes and build it out totaly.
yea that is the thing about the IONS. everybody has them. eespically the punk cocky kids. So if youre saying that I Do keep the tes, I'll proablly have to get a new stiker, valve, and maybe a zip kit?
DarkeWolf

a zip kit would actually completely eliminate your valve and striker.
so would that be a good thing or bad???
DarkeWolf
08-15-2005, 08:48 PM
it would be the kind of thing that if you were gonna go that route, you REALLY need to decide if you wanna keep that marker or not.
a t-kit (same as a zip kit, but from scenariodreams.com) costs around $180. and that the LEAST expensive of the conversion kits. The Zip kit is $225 from custompbsolutions.com
thats the cost of a whole 'nuther marker. I mean, I HATE to say it, but it's possible to get an Ion for that, with the right deals from the right people.
well, let's say if I keep the TES, and i do that conversion, would i get enough performance differnce that's worth that price? I'm kinda looking at the o3x now and interested somewhat. Where can i find on online though?
