You get penalized for hopper hits?

You'd get penalized for playing on I'd think.

But since you have a halo, you can tilt your whole setup some and have your tank/shooting-arm exposed a bit more, but have the hopper tucked in.

if play-on because you dont know about them...

You can usually tell if it hits your hopper and it should be obvious enough for a ref to see and pull you. With a halo you can put the set-up at and angle and keep the hopper in more. Also never play over the top of bunkers.

And your Ricochet deflected balls? 'Cause mine sure didn't.

I play over the top, and it works out good for me. It usually gets me ready to move to a secondary or put some people in for the run through.

Guess it depends on the person.:P

Also, it's quite possible to play over the top. I did it many times today, usually after putting another playing in and then snapping over the top to get an angle on someone, and I also used it a few times to keep a player in their bunker while my teammate went to bunker him to finish up the game.

[EDIT] - This is the correct way to play over the top, this is my teammate Greg.

Notice how his gun is turned so his Halo isn't as easy to shoot. You want to turn it more than that, but the pic was taken before he was all the way over the top.

No, a direct hit is a direct hit.

Yeah it does depend on the person. Over the top can be good if your mixing up where your coming out of the bunker. It's bad because the first and last thing people see is your hopper. If you come out the side you have the whole head / gun / arm together moving in and out at the same time. If you come over the top they see the hopper, then you see them. If you can move quick enough and get off some shots and get back down do it but don't get into a habbit.

Like I said before, I don't use over the top to go back down into my bunker, it is either to pin down someone so my other guys can move up, or I am about to get up and go to secondary.

And I know the hopper shows, but if you execute good enough with it, why not?

Solution: Learn to play better. We all gt hopper hits from time to time, but the best players know ow to play to minimize this.

OR, as previously mentioned, whip out the ol' warp feed.

Do what Dynasty does.
Get two big fluffy pillows, and plenty of duck tape. Your obviously smart enough to guess the rest.

As for me, I just tough it out.

Play without a hopper, just load balls into the feedneck:rolleyes:
Seriously, just tilt your hopper in towards the bunker whenever you snap out the side, and try to reduce playing over top

Lets use some common sense, yes. What is directly behind your hopper that is even bigger and hevier...thats right your head, so even if you take away the hopper, you still get hit in the face, and you cant argue the fact that you didnt see it. If your int a tourny and you get a hopper hit but dont know it and play on you should be okay. Plus the refs should be good enough to immediatly see one. As described earlier is also why the q-loader is stupid.

how does tilting your hopper make a diffrence,it can still be hit just as easily no?

killa_n00b
08-23-2005, 12:45 PM
You tilt it depending on the bunker you're playing. Your hopper should always be parallel to your bunker, it's a known fact that the less there is to hit the less chance of you getting hit.

If you tilt your hopper into the bunker, it isn't as visible to the other team, thus you don't get shot there.

Wrong, if you tilt your hopper at a standup can or any other bunker with a similar side(which is straight) it's not smart to tilt your hopper as more of your arm will come out.
