My friends and I hadn't played paintball for a month or so and we were desperate to play. So we decided to play in the backyard of my friends apartment building he owns, and the backyard is next to a big road. We were playing our 2nd or 3rd game when I saw a car drive by, back up for a second, then drive off. A couple of minutes later 2 police cars drove by. So we rushed inside thinking we'd done something wrong. We were looking out his windows and we spotted 8 police cars parked around the block and a SWAT van in a parking lot about 200 yards away. We thought we musta been in a lotta trouble, so we ran up to his roof and hid. We heard a couple of knocks and we waited, thinking we could convince the cops that we werent home, but they kept knocking so we went downstairs. They asked us if wed seen a man in camo walking around. And our tensions let loose. It turned out someone had called the police saying there were 3 men in camo with rifles in the bushes. They had literally set up a ring around our block with swat snipers on the roof. Later tht day we put up a sign saying NOT REAL GUNS

yah i was scared outa my mind, but for the reason tht we were in trouble for playing paintball not for impersonating a sniper in the bushes. It hit me a couple minutes after the news how one false move on my part coulda gotten me shot.........thats a lesson learned, never play downtown in the city
Think of it this way, if they caught you , you would be the most popular people in your town! you could of also told all your friends how it feels to have a gun at your head.

dudem i dont think you wouldve been in ANY danger whatsoever. SWAT officers are the most well-trained police officers in the United states. They train with paintball guns, and i think that they could tell the difference between an AK47 or Spyder. Police Snipers are also some of the best observers, even compared to military snipers. Police doctrine emphasizes asking questions, then shooting. Most SWAT officers would rather die than shoot a kid, i think they woulda put off shottin you till they had a 100 percent guarantee tha you were ARMED.

SWAT snipers, generaly, used to be military though some SWAT members go through a massive training course to become a sniper. I wouldn't be surprised if, had they seen you with the guns, broken out laughing that someone had called to say that there were snipers in the bushes heheh

Well I think your a mean person. Anyone who thinks that going out and playing paintball around an appartment complex is safe or even legal hurt our sport badly. Puting up signs dosnt help either. If you defend their actions then you are against the sport of paintball. Our sport is under attack as it is and I am not going to condone this crap or yours NSUCK.

Hey Kallen, the us paintball players have a right to play on our property or on someone elses with permision.

You can't just play anywhere!
You dont play paintball around appartment complexes because a paintball could injure someone who dosn't have a mask.
I dont care you dont play there because people could get hurt.

The backyard of an apartment complex is nothing like downtown seattle. it is private property. Yes if some random guy walks off the road around the aprtment and into the line of fire than yes he could get hurt. But if a guy walks onto private hunting property he could get killed. Does that mean no more hunting? I have been asuuming there is some kind of netting between the backyard and the road, and it is an controlled envirnment where theres not alot of people walking around. If not it should be.
PartsMart please give more details on the loction.

I will settle down but you have no right to state a defense if you have no facts to back up that it was a controlled environment. In any case there are signs warning private property. There are no signs in the begginging. Seattle is just reffering to that if it is a appartment complex then it is populated.
But you should not attack him thinking its not a controled enviroment without proof. You gotta be careful what you say, though when you don't make it sound like you got a bad attiude you have a point. When your mean about it and don't explain your reasoning it sounds like your part of the reason paintball has got the bad name, people that get jumpy when something happenes and go off on people. Just back up your reasoning the first time around...all i ask.

I dont think you really play wherever you want like that. If you do then it is still wrong. Why dont you just go find a field? What is the need to be dangerous in a populated area. Also 100ft away is only 33 yds and paintball guns can overshoot that far. Do you guys have cronos aswell? I dont think you are really considering what you are doing? Thats my look at what has been stated.

Man, I almost had a heart-attack when we were shooting our paintball guns inside this guy's fence, one crazy guy shot over the fence and nailed a van coming by in town right on the windshield. Slammed on his brakes and told us all he was pressing charges. Man, I couldn't breathe for like an hour. But he understood that it was an "accident" and we weren't planning to shoot passing-by cars. LUCKY ME!

I wasn't there, but apparently some kid named chance turned around and shot some kid who was dry firing off the roof. The game wasn't on or anything. The kid's bllind in one eye now. Partsmart, you really shouldn't let him play with us anymore.

people just shouldnt be playing backyard ball...its not safe......i can almost guaruntee that just about all of them dont chronograph when they play.....paintball goggles are only made for so many fps....some only made for like 300 like some brass eagle ones......and plus if the neighbors see it they think its like a real gun and then u just get in more trouble....not only is playing at a real field more fun, its safer too.

well the majority of paintballers like to save the money they have and playing at fields is the biggest ripoff. Paintball is already expensive, no need to make it more expensive. It's not what you think when someones eye gets shot out. We didnt even realize it happened, we thought he was faking. Pretty much some kid had been picking on a kid and the kid who was being picked on shot a paintball with his beat up talon at the bully from about 100 yards away to get him back. The bully turned around and shot at him and all it took was one shot.

We kinda got rained out didn't we PartsMart. As for the rich little snot who is against woodsball, I'm sorry our mamas don't buy al our stuff for us, we actually have ot work. Besides, I refuse to play with Chance cuz of the incident

if im the one your calling a rich little snot your totally wrong.....i work at my local shop and i dont get paid a dime but i do get discounts on air, paint, guns, parts....whatever. my parents pay close to nothing for any of my paintball stuff..........im not against woodsball but its just not as safe as it should be cause they dont chrono which could cause a ball to crack the lense and do stuff to ur eyes...........your call though do what you want

Parts mart, the tourney got rained out today but it's been moved I'll tell you when. About the woods ball thing, you're right. It's not safe to play with a bunch of little kids you don't know very well. My team lives in to different areas, so we decided to play outlaw outlaw one weekend, then go to a field the next. Our thing is we only play with our team and a couple of our GOOD griends. We don't let people play with us that might do something like turn their velocity up.
laxman5
03-03-2002, 05:17 AM
whooper im not trying to argue but when u said that just cause they are your friends it doesnt mean they wont turn their velocity up...they dont actually have to turn it up themselves......everytime i take apart my gun to clean it and put it back together everything changes....the velocity doesnt ever stay the same.....if it did you would only have to chrono one time right when you get your gun and youd never have to do it again
wwhooper
03-03-2002, 05:40 AM
well most of them have the tourney lock screws. and like I said they chrono every other week

I play woods ball and it is totally safe. My team and I have even went out and bought a rader chrono, its the one they use in the PanAm circuit. We check our velocity before we play a game and after to make sure no one has turned there velocity up and if the have the are banned from playing with us for a week or forever it just depends on how much they turn there velocity up. We got the chrono by saving the money we would have paid for field fees.

Yah people turn up their guns big time in the woods ball games I play, but half of em end up turning it up too high and they break balls and swerve everywhere. Plus they hit no one so no one really cares.
Furious pb
03-03-2002, 03:23 PM
Yeah, we have a kid who just got an Em-1. He turned the thing up to like 350, no kidding, luckily he sucks. The only person he hit all day was partsmart. Most of the people who turn up their velocity suck anyway, cept for chance, but like I said, I don't play with him.
laxman5
03-03-2002, 04:26 PM
as i said before, turning up velocity can crack lenses or cause physical damage so just because the person sucks that is turning up their velocity doesnt mean you will never get hit by him. if he gets a lucky shot and gets you in the mask and his gun is shooting reeallly hot, you culd be in trouble
PartsMart
03-04-2002, 02:39 PM
well most of us use cheap enough paint and our guns suck enough tht if u turn up ur gun to much, u cant hit sh*t
KallenP
03-12-2002, 08:15 PM
Ok if you have that setup gun it isnt crap it could reach 350 or higher easy. Chronoing every other week dosn't work it can change easily. How much are your field fees? Mine are $15 and I get free N2 and Co2 all day. Paint is also like $13-$15 for 500. Sometimes I go out in the woods to a designated area where people play paintball. It is actually free fields that are out in the woods. No field fee but no services either. Unfortunatly guns break down alot out there and it sucks! (I have to work on them)
Anyways I understand the friend thing but in all fairness the best times I have had are at actual fields. That is where the skill is!

The field where I go there are no fees, after you buy a $20 membership that lasts a year. And you get discounts on the other stuff like paint. Air is really cheap, it might as well be counted for free.

Ironmansth, I thank you! I've spent the last few minutes editing the childrens flaming and whining posts here and this is one of a very few that doesn't fall into the above offences. Instead of just complaining you offered a solution, and a very wise one at that! The method you use is the same that we practice at the woods I play at. I also might add, this sets a good example that younger players need. Safety is something that should always be first. It will insure that everyone has a good time and even more important, Everybody goes home safe! Stupidity should never be allowed or used as an excuse!
Hand chrono's can be obtained for the price of some cases of field paints. If the rest of you are going to continue to play outlaw games, please make the investment in a chrono amoungest yourselves. Guys just ask yourselves, what your own vision is worth?
