I just got a new drop forward for my tippmann m98 custom, but the stock braided hose was to short. I bought a new braided hose and threw it on. I was excited to try it out, but when I put the co2 tank on, I noticed it was leaking right where the hose connects to the valve. I took the hose off and low and behold, the valve was stripped!!! I must have tighted it to tight or cross threaded it or something..So Im thinking I got to get a new valve now, so my question is...how do you guys connect the braided hose?? With teflon tape?? And then how tight should I screw it on?? Thanks all..

I think you are. I use locktite. Whenever I remove a fitting I mark it with a pen, measure it and mark it again on the other fitting. You may be able to re-tap your threads.

its like a super adhesive so nothing comes loose, lots of companies use it, i know tippman does, you just gotta heat it up with a hair dryer before you take the loktited objects off or you'll really strip your stuff.

are you sure the leak is due to the valve? If you didn't put teflon tape or loctite on the threads before installing the new hose, that could be the problem.

how much teflon tape did you use? sometimes if you put too much it won't get a good seal on the threads. I did this a few times. i tooks off some tape and it worked fine

Heres the deal the first time i tried to put the hose into the valve I wrapped the teflon tape about 3 times around the hose. But, I was for some reason trying to do this when I was drunk, so I think I must have cross threaded it. Then I tried to wrap the teflon tape likem 10 times to stop the leak, but that didnt help... I think a new valve is in order..:(

uh, be careful using loc-tite. you can get it at any store, but remember it is made so that bolts, and joints DO NOT come apart. I have used loc-tite on motorcycle parts (frame) and it has taken a pnuematic socket set to take the bolts off.

any decent pro shop should be able to fix your gun in under 15 mins for about 20 bucks. If you cross threaded it, the only way to fix it is to use a tool that will properly rethread the male part of the problem or replace the valve.
good luck
