SHould i do what KK says and set it at 180 psi and then adjust dwell?
Same question for 260 psi.
Thanks

You shouldn't be at 260psi. That will blow the solenoid. SmartParts' gun techs don't even want you to go over 150 psi.

you should still try and get your PSI below 150 though. 135psi is good

For best performance with optimal shots per tank set your pressure at 180 and then set your dwell so you achieve 280 fps. Then you can either lower your dwell to get 240 fps or 260 fps. If you can't lower your dwell enough to acieve these velocities then lower your pressure. You may experience bolt stick at lower pressure if you don't have an iso mod.

I am just telling you guys what the gun tech at SmartParts Headquarters told me in person. He doesn't reccomend running your gun over 150lbs.

You have to realize that some of what techs tell you is an opinion of there own. Some of it is factual, but a lot is what they believe and may not always be right.

So you would take the opinion of someone that just owns the guns rather than someone that makes them with their own hands? Call SmartParts and talk to Hans. He is the one that told me to run it below 150 psi

Yes I would. I want to see you run a stock Impulse at 150 or lower. You will get bolt stick everytime. I know because I have tried. If you have some sort of ISO then great. Run it as low as possible.

Yo, about believing techs, with my old cocker on co2 with no reg, the tech I was talking to said it wouldn''t work at all. I used the gun for several months with almost no problems. It was a 99, so some orings needed replacement, and it needed some serious tuning, and I needed to learn to not shortstroke, but also, the be stingray's detent puts a dent in the aluminum bolt, cause the detent is steel, and that dent chops balls. I called BE and asked them why didnt they use a plastic detent. Lasts just as long, is cheaper, and no dent. Their techs told me that it is BETTER that way. After running my old venerable 'ray for almost 4 years, Im convinced theyre wrong

You dont need to run your gun under 150psi. Like weasel00 said that a stock impulse cant even get down that low. Also, if you run it at 150psi you will be eliminating chopping but LOWERING efficiency making the gun "better" as far as the tech's point of view but to me efficiency is more important. I run my impulse at 185psi ever since July and I have had 0 problems. ::Knocks on wood::

First of all, While running my gun at 135lbs. No bolt stick. EVER!!! And I think that the people that make the guns know a little more than the people that just sell them.

As of now I have a Freak Factory Impulse. I ran my old Impulse at 135psi without any internal upgrades. All That I had different was a Delrin Bolt. I had no tape worm or any upgrades on it. I never once had bolt stick. Try adjusting your dwell when you have bolt stick.
