allright I was being curious and I was trying to take off one of the eye covers to get to the detent. I nearly brok my allen wrench trying to get it out, but once I did it like shot out this funky smelling powder. I didnt even bother to take it off I just screwed it back on there. I wanted to make sure that I didnt damage the marker. Please respond if you have any insight.......

wierd, i would say, clean it up, and put everything back together, and BTW the covers will come of easier now....ha
maybe you should call ICD and tell them to find better places to hide their drugs.

Have you had braces. You know when they take them off and they are grinding the glue off your teeth. That was the smell. Marker all cleaned tho last time I try to take the eye covers off......

lol..... yea not really thinking thats too good of an idea....
Practically all the screws on the Promaster are red loctited, so when you unscrewed it it broke the bond and thats where the funny smell came from, its normal.

The eye cover screws should not be loc-tited. My bet is there was a small amount of moisture left in the marker after it was anodized. This allowed the area to oxidize. When aluminum rusts it creates small cream/white colored crystals. When you unscrewed the eye covers you broke this oxidation loose and created your mysterious powder.
I would put a drop of gun oil on the threads of the eye cover screw and reinstall the screws. This should coat the aluminum and stop any oxidation that maybe occuring.
I have seen the same thing occur on my markers when I chop a ball or get shot in the side of the marker. If you dont clean your marker at the end of the day, which I never do, you can bet in a week or twos time you will see this white powder you are talking about.
