1. Don't downgrade
2. Barrel adapters are very bad, and greatly decrease your accuracy
3. If you really want a new gun, sell your Cocker and buy an Ion.

Lapco makes an adapter that works very well. No decrease in performance.

We've sold thousands with no complaints.

the adaptor adds about two inches to your barrel size, and then in my cases, i gained more barrel breaks from it....

Barrel adapters do work, but keep in mind that they don't have interchangeable boresizes. In other words, if you have a .689 adapter and a .692 paintball, it will be prone to breaking, and you have no way around it.
And, as STO said, don't downgrade. Though I don't like cockers much, it's still alot better than any spyder out there. I'd highly reccomend a JAM bolt if it's a mechanical cocker, that way you don't chop. Personally I'd get an Ion in excess to the cocker or sell the autococker, add the money for the Ion, and get something really nice.
