Throw it away. Or, you could try and get a few cents by recycling it. I don't think you'll be able to recycle the valve, though. Just the aluminum tank.

I remember Jaster saying he would take out the valve and reg and such until you're just left with the bottle, which he would then paint them and they made some pretty nice vases which he gave out as gifts. He then went on to say Martha Stewart had nothingon him:dodgy:

But Jaster spelled it "Stuart" because he's silly.http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/9025/ninjadodgy0vz.jpg

I would just throw it away, or possibly make some kind of canteen....

Get out your local phone book. Find the nearest welding supply shop. Some dive/SCUBA shops might help you here as well. Generally, they’ll dispose of it PROPERLY for you. (AKA: throwing it the garbage is not proper disposal) They might charge you a small disposal fee, but that's better that hurting someone by being lazy.

Or instead of paying a fee, dump it off at your city's waste removal center (or a neighboring city's waste removal center). This one (http://www.dwrco.com/index.htm) is closest to me. They have big bins outside where you just toss your junk - cardboard, plastic, aluminum, household appliances, etc. They even have one for oil (separate from the rest & housed from the heat).

Making sure the tank is empty and removing the valve is still a good idea. In fact, i think that's mandatory.

I don't know about you, but around here the garbage truck compacts the trash after the guys dumps the can in. You want to open yourself to city/county/state/federal fines and a possible wrongful death lawsuit, be my guest.

You do realize once you take off the valve a CO2 tanks nothing more than a gigantic coke can? Along with a fancy brass trinket, to go along side it. If you want to "properly" dispose of it, with getting some cash along side, recycle it the same as you would a coke can. People do it with 12gs all the time.

i would take off the brass and keep the aluminum tank part
it will look cool and you can show it off to newbies
tell them its some new tank or something like that and make up a big story about how you invented it.:eyes:

take off the valve and mess with the tank. Stuff it with cotton, put some kind of screen over it with a whick going down through the center that has at least 6 inches or so in the cotton, and pour some citrinilla down in there. Then attach it to a pole of some kind, and there you go, a red neck tiki torch. DONT waste it. If your too lazy to do that, go shoot it with a shot gun or something.

Or, you can set stuff on fire in it.
