Making a custom wooden stock for 98c

I was thinking of all the great ways to spice up my 98c, but Im not quite up for sinking 500$ into it. SO I had an idea, Ive always loved ak47s, and ive seen the kit at specops, but I had the idea to make a home made wooden stock, It wouldnt be all to difficult, the hardest part would be making the part that connects into the gun. Im going to start researching ab it to see if anyone else has made them to get some ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions for:

Wood
Cutting
Sanding
Tips
etc.?

Check with the guy who made himself a wooden stock for his 98c. (its the first pic on the 98c review).
