Has anyone had a marker that never works, or breaks down all the time. My first marker was a Brass Eagle Raptor. It was very innacuate and broke down every 2 or 3 games, it chopped paint, double-feeded, leaked, you name it. So I spent the money and tricked it out, if there's such a thing. But it still is crap, It's more accurate but still breaks all the time. I have a Spyder Xtra now and I love it, However I can't sell my Raptor for anything it's now just a very expensive paper weight.

Brass Eagle pisses me off:pissed:

Smashing it with a sledge is worth at least a buck.

This is why I always tell people not to buy BE. People keep saying "but they bring people into the sport." Fine, but more of those people would have stayed in the sport if they hadn't started with BE. It's better to pay the extra $5 or so and use a rental, then use a p.o.s. BE in my opinion, so I always tell everyone to try it out with rentals for a while, and if they like it, they can save up and get a better marker. This will help them avoid the headaches BE brings about. If I'm going with them, I am always happy to loan out a marker (I have extras :)) and if I'm bringing more than 2 people with me, I'll use a rental for a while to make sure everyone gets a chance to try a high end gun. People are more likely to stay in the sport if they enjoy their first experience, and I try to help as much as possible.

Anyway, this is all just my opinion, please, let's not start another BE sucks/rocks debate. I don't have the energy.

I had a Silver Eagle Raptor once. It worked OK for the first 2.5 weeks, then the gun goes full auto because the sear wore down. I was really pissed.
It wasn't a total loss though. I'm sort of an amateur film maker and always need props for my movies, so I took a hammer to the Raptor and got the powerfeed off, and now it's a decent "laser blaster" type prop.

what's the point of bashing BE?

I like your Idea of letting people you a better marker to get them a better look at the sport, but not all have the oppurtunity so no matter what you think about BE.

It's better than nothing.

But that's cool to let people borrow your stuff UT

Yeah, but my argument is this:

Decision 1:
Spend $70 on a BE package.
Pay the field fee, and still pay for your paint and air.
Have all of the people renting tippys have an advantage over you.
Gun breaks after 3 tripps, you need to start using a rental.
Have three lousy tripps of paintball and lose $70.

OR

Decision 2:
Save the $70
Use that $70 to rent ~4 times, or go twice with rentals and paint.
Have an enjoyable two days of paintball.
Haven't lost any money, and if you like the sport, you can save up for a decent marker.

Option 1 gives you headaches, and three days of having the entire field out perform you, plus you're $70 in the hole.

Option 2 let's you enjoy paintball more, and saves you money.

Personally, I'd take two good days of paintball over three so-so days in a heartbeat. Saving the money is just an extra bonus, which you can use for part of your marker and equipment package in the future.

hey UT its great that you do all of that to help us keep our favorite sport for that i give you a

As for all the BE stuff , i think its just that you jave to keep constant surveillance of your gun to take care of it .... thats good for me especially when im bored .... im not really a newbie anymore , i have been playing for atleast 4 years and my newest gun was an avenger purchased about 1 month ago it has worked PERFECT ... no problems at all i has only chopped about 3 balls in a month ahd those were BE balls.... there guns are good as long as you remember to

1. take care of them 24/7
2. Dont use BE paint... i use diablo and marbelizer and it works flawlessly

I would not recommend getting certain BE's to noobies because they dont know how to take care of them properly and of course they are going to break .....

Agreed, but does everyone have access to a field? No, that is why there is so much outlaw. (or one of the reasons)

That is true, it is a lot easier to get people to go with you outlawing if they can play for cheap. As long as everyone out there is using BE pumps, then everyone is even, and that should be enjoyable. (Actually, it probably would be even be more fun then playing a bunch of high ends vs. high ends) I wouldn't have a problem with that, it's just sad to see someone come to my field with a Talon (which I have seen) verses bushys and up throughout the whole other team. When you look at them at the end of the day, you can tell they just want to leave and didn't enjoy their time any.

Oh, and Hazard, I'm mostly referring to the cheap packages. I still think their other stuff is over-priced for how it performs, but at least most people that buy it, make a conscious decision after being in the sport for at least a little while.

Again, I don't hate BE for making crap. I severely dislike them for some of their buisness practices, but hey, it's a Capitalist society and for every good company out there, there is going to be a bad one.

My first gun was the Viewloader Genesis. It was my first day ever playing paintball and was all psyched up. My bubble was bursted, however, after i put the Co2 in and it leaked out internally like a slashed tire on an 18-wheeler. I was smart however, and immediately traded (assuming the problem was unique to the gun) it in for another genesis. when i tried that ti worked the first time but started leaking (slower this time) the 2nd week. By this point, i was beginning to think that all paintball guns were crap. The guy at the store told me to try the tippmann. I tried it and (here's a twist) the tippmann failed to operate too. Persistent as i am, i traded it in for another. This one finally worked and i still use it and trick it out til this day, 3 months later.
And we all lived happily ever after.

I can vouch for BE guns working if taken care of properly. My first gun was a Stingray II. It worked "perfectly" for 2 years without any major problems, and it was still working at the time I sold it.

dont get me started on BE...aww, what the heck! My friend just bought a friggin 250$ rainmaker. He claims its an electro, but the only thing that is electric about it is the red blinky light. He also claims he can shoot 14BPS... so we had a shoot out and I got a higher bps with a rebel. ok...im done...for now anyway...
Unreliabel guns make me madder than BE does. My rebel has been crap latley, so, ironically, I'm using my Hammer (which was intended as a backup) as my main gun now, And I wish I did that from the start!

I've had my Stingray 2 for 3 years, and others I play with still use Stingray 1s. They work fine, and mine is very accurate with a better barrel. Then again, I only paid $50, so if it didn't work I wasn't out that much. Also, my TigerShark has lasted even longer with no problems. Just keep them oiled, which is easy, given the ease of disassembly. The Stingray isn't a good cold weather gun, but in the warmer months, I have no complaints.
