I dont know what your price range is, but I would go with a 14", I have a 14" Whisper barrel, I love it, but I know Everyone else will just say JJ Cermaic or a CP. What type of play will he do? Woods or Speedball? If your willing to shell out the cash, Id give the New APEX from BT, Its expensive, but the video is cool and is like a flatline but better.

Not sure if you can get a 16 but on your budget jj ceramic is the way to go. It's 30 bux and a great deal. I think cp 1 piece's have a 16 and they are 40 bux and are also great. I would start with a barrel and then buy a electric hopper and mabye double trigger. You could also buy custom pro reciever halves and strap on an egrip. That or put a rt on it.

A JJ ceramic would be the best choice. I have one and I love it.

Yea J&J's are the main barrel for 98C's in the group of guys i play with. They do their job well and are very affordable.

I find it hard to believe that he wants a 16". 14 is already plenty long IMO on a 98, and a 16" makes for a very long combination. I personally preferred a 12" on my 98. I recommend a 12 or 14" Cp 1-piece. The extra 2 inches from 14 to 16 don't hurt accuracy a bit and only preserves what little efficiency the 98c has.

I seriously think that the Whisper Barrel is good and almost as sexy as me.

You might be right. Nobody quite believes me either when I say that the ACI Zero Gravity is better than a CP.

Spy you have a 98?

Had one. It was my first gun, and thankfully my friend still has it to shoot me with because I liked it very much. I eventually moved on to an E-99, then on to the A-5.

I had a 12" J&J Pro-1 on it. That was a perfect size for me because the 98 is a long gun in comparison to others. My bro has a 14" on his 98c, and that, to me, is the maximum length to go with on a 98c.

what about the flatline ? can you use cheap paint in it ?
also what are custom pro reciever halves ?
why does it need a new hopper it only shoots 8 bps ?

The 98 Flatline is not favorite of many, and I don't like it that well. The Apex, on the other hand, looks to be a much better option than the Flatline.

I don't recommend cheap paint in any barrel that needs spin to work.

The Custom Pro receiver halves are used for a 98c to accept an E-grip. Don't worry about that now.

An electric hopper isn't needed until a faster trigger system is used.

if you can do it try to talk your dad into a 14 inch. my friend has 14 inch and loves it and it looks almost goofy sticking out that far. especally for woodsball unless he likes distance shooting go for 14 inch and probly double trigger for on budget.

M98/98c/Custom Pro Flatline is average.
I'd get an Apex before I'd get a 98 Flatline.

lol the flatlines for the 98c are kinda brutal, i thought he was looking at A5's my bad... still, don't go for the apex, not worth it... yet. As for expensive paint,,,, you should shoot good paint with any barrel. Saves you in the long run.

I have had my flatline for almost a year and it hasn't caused any trouble.. don't get the flatline if you don't need the distance... there are many barrels that can keep accuracy at close to mid ranges.. but if you are looking to reach out and touch someone get the flatty.. it's pimp when you make guys, who think they are out of your range, run for cover in woodsball. :-D
