What is Ramping? I was looking at my local paintball field's website and there was a schedualed tourny that said ramping was allowed.
*clears throat*
Ramping – v. Where the person pulls the trigger a certain amount of times and the gun adds shots. For example, say the gun is set to ramp 50% at 12 bps, when you walk 12 bps with your fingers (no added help from the gun) the gun will add 6 extra bps, so you will be shooting 18 bps instead of 12.

Taken from the paintball dictionary because I'm too lazy to explain it on my own.

i'm not sure but i have heard that some forms of ramping switch the gun to full-auto after a certain bps but i'm not sure correct me if i'm wrong guys

You're right, too. There is percentage ramping (as earlier described) and PSP/NXL/CFOA ramping, which all shoot at 15 BPS once the activation point is hit (3 bps).
Basically, once you hit x, the goes full auto at what ever it's set at as long as you maintain x BPS. i.e. pull 5 BPS, Ion fires 17 BPS. Slow down to four, ramping stops and marker fires at 4 BPS.
The only different thing is NXL fires full auto until you let go of the trigger, you don't have to maintain 3 BPS.

Shot ramping capped - Player pulls the trigger 5 times, the board is programmed to fire 8 shots and fires 8 shots per 5 trigger pulls. Many variations of this. Usually achieved by code build into the board which can be activated through changing the settings by normal means or a hidden switch.
Shot ramping uncapped - player pulls the trigger 5 times, gun ramps to fire as many cycles as the marker can physically achieve or more. Usually not consistent and depends on cycle rate and fairly easy to spot on the field.
Ramping Velocity - First few shots fired are below maximum allowed velocity, but the next series are at a higher velocity rate. don't see this too much these days.
bouncing - variation of ramping
Switch Bounce - This being when the micro switch in the marker is either worn out or someone changes the manufacturers design. Switch bounce is when contacts of the micro switch close to fire the marker and when the switch is released the marker may fire again, do to the long arc that [occurs] during opening.
Trigger Bounce - Occurs when the weight is heavy enough when released it swings back and triggers another firing cycle. This can also be accomplished by playing with trigger return springs and a light trigger.
Mechanical or Marker Bounce - Mechanical bounce is when a player uses the "recoil of the marker to fire another cycle. Some players call it "the sweet spot" of the marker.
