I am brand new to this forum and brand new to the impulse. I have been reading the threads and have found the impulse a very interesting gun.

I have a few questions : 1. What is the Solenoid? Is it part of the electronics. 2. What does VFF mean? ( I think i got it right). 3. Does the gun come with the Freak barrel system? (I would think so because it is made by smart parts. But what do i know?)

I think that about raps it up.

I must say though, the impulse is a nice looking gun:D

im not sure exactly what the Solenoid does but i know there little tiny parts tha need to be greeses in it. VFF if Voodoo ful flow it maximizes the co2. or air entering the gun look here http://www.e-paintballoutlet.com/
and it all depends where u get the gun and what level the gun is weather it be basic, mid-range, or pro basic having probably AA mid-range possibly having a freak barrel
hope i helped u sum

Ok ill answer them for you.....

1. What is the Solenoid? OK to make it simple, when you pull the trigger, it hits a microswitch that activates the solenoid. The solenoid basically tells the gun to open the bolt, let air in, and fire a paintball.

2. What does VFF mean? Stands for Voodoo Full FLow and what is does is this : It redirects the air so instead of the air going to the valve and then to the solenoid, it splits the air up, giving a little better performance.

3. Does the gun come with the Freak barrel system? Depends, some of the higher custom impulses do. The normal Impulses come with a Progressive Barrel. The turbos used to come with AA's but they dont make Turbos anymore.

um, I know what the solenoid does!!! Go to the pic thread (not sure if our has it) on pbnation. On page 14 there is a model of the impulse firing. The solenoid moves to let air through to move the hammer.

Thanx for all of the replies. Now i have some different questions:

1) Is the the vodoo fre flo the reg?
2) since the impules operates at a low pressure( I think i remember reading wolverine's impulse FAQ and it said like 190 or something), will it take a preset tank that is preset at 800psi?
3)Do you need an on/off for the tank on the cradle(i remeber it mentioned somewhere and couldn't remember where)?

Thanx for all the help. Hope i am not driving you guys

free flow- it is a vertical adaptor, not a reg. If you buy from FOM you can get an Impy with vert maxflow and installed full flow
Preset tank- as long as you have another adjustable reg making that pressure around 180 psi, over 200 blows the solenoid
on/off is nice, but I think it depends on your serial number, if you have vert reg, no on off is needed, but I got one anyway, as I have burned myself beforewith co2 with a pin valve. The pin was long, and it didnt seal the flow before unscrewinbg enough, so I burned my wrist, and still have a scar after almost 3.5 years

yeah you gotta be careful. C02 is so cold that it burns you!

Dang! I didn't know CO2 was so dangerous:eek:. So the vff is just the vert. adapter. So what is the reg? Are those adjustable regs easy to find?

I have another question (sorry:P ): So the stock impulse is just a semi auto and the turbo had the auto feature?

Oh, and one final thing: What is the impulse's claim to fame. What would make someone want to buy one over the bushmaster or the intimidator?

Thanx abunch for the help

The impulse comes with one of the best adjustable regs availiable.....the one and only......MAX FLOW!!!! :D

Yes the stock impulses are semi auto. The turbo didnt feature full auto i dont think, i think it just had turbo mode on there.

its claim to fame is its reliable, upgradeable, sexy , has a great company behind it. Its just a great all around marker. Also, look at this Impulse forum. We have the best people around. Ex, Killer Kat, FOM, me (lol)

Oh... Ok. So the reg that is on the impulse is an adjustable one. So i could just screw my preset 800psi tank and adjust the max flo to the required psi for the gun to operate.

one more question: Who or what is FOM?

Thanx again

FOM is the owner of (online) www.e-paintballoutlet.com which is the same thing as his store in Michigan, Michigan Paintball Outlet. FOM sees and knows all about Impys. No matter what goes wrong with an Impy you buy from him, FOM will fix it, and is prompt about doing so. FOM also tests each marker before selling it, to make sure it works. If you buy aftermarket parts with the gun, hell install and set them for you. FOM is 'DA MAN!! GIVE IT UP PEOPLE FOR THE ONE AND ONLY FOM!!! (I heard a rumor, does FOM really stand for Friend Of Many?)

If you do order from FOM and it comes but doesn't work, just adjust the dwell pot. I can't even tell you how many IMPs just need that, including the 3 I've gotten over time (or my teams) from FOM. Great guys, plus they are WDP certified for me angel too!!!
