Is a shocker worth it, since I already have an Ion, or would it be a waste of money?

May as well up the Ion instead of spending money on that Shocker. I believe SP said the Ion is 90% as good as the Shocker at 50% of the price.

That's what my answer was going to be when I read the title of this thread, but I don't think he needs to upgrade to a higher end gun right away. I'm sure he has not had his Ion for very long. He can just up it a lot and play with it for a few months and see if he still wants to get a different gun.

In my experience, Proto>ion in everyway.

Except for price. You could get 2 Ions for the price of 1 Proto. Then dual wield them both at the same time... with ramping. That's like, 30 bps. :dodgy:

You'll still need another tank and hopper :P

BTW, I think the Proto is easily the best deal in the paintball world right now. I just gone one, and its a really nice gun I must say.

Shockers are decent, I can't look past their poor quality, and low quality aluminum.

I don't think people realize that this thread is more about whether or not he should ditch his Ion and get a different gun. All these suggestions for getting a Proto would be appropriate if his original question was "Should I get a Shocker?"

keep your ion for a few more months and up it. if you are still tired of it buy a shocker or a proto

Yay, someone agrees with me.

It's not completely necessary to have a higher-end gun like a shocker or proto. It's possible that the Ion suits your needs well enough.

be carefull of which upgrades you choose for your ion they are picky and some upgrades will put it back in the shop over and over but ya keep the ion for now and when you grow out of it get a shocker with a pred board

Or you could just keep the Ion, get a pred board, instead of getting a shocker and pred board.

Yeh the shocker looks alot better than the Ion, though some of the bodys out for it could give it a run for its money.

Stick with the Ion for a while, and once you've either
A) Completely upgraded it and want something new to mess with
B) Break your Ion somehow
or C) Have the money

go for a Shocker or Proto.

I love Shockers....they are definately one of my favorite high end guns. I think your Ion would be good for now, unless you've gotten it upgraded to peak performance and still think you need something a little bit better. But if your thinking of upgrading to a Shocker just for the sake of upgrading, it's not worth it.
