Like the poll, I placed in the Impulse forum, I am intrested to actually see what you Shocker toters use to run your guns (only your Shockers).

Right now, I can only run Co2. I had to sell my HPA system to get the Shocker. Hopefully I'll get a new one soon. I don't like the idea of running Co2 on it.

I'm all about running the gun on Co2 if you can't afford to buy HPA, but if you can afford it, go for the HPA. It's soo much more reliable with it's recharge. I always found myself getting drop off or a miss fire with co2 when I tried to crank out long strings of shots. Go with HPA.

Actually, unless you're shooting 17.2 shots per second, the maxflow reg with a anti-syphon'd co2 is perfectly fine.

I did 3 tests shooting 45 rounds at full auto using both co2 and a PE 68/4500.

In every case, I had equal out of the co2.

If you read your shocker manual, it was designed to work off of co2.

The reason why other guns can't use co2 is the recharge rate at high pressures. Yes, co2 cannot recharge quickly to re-assume high pressures. But when regular liquid co2 exerts 198 psi at sea level, and since most shockers operate at 150-175, then you have NO problem. It doesn't need to expand as it is 198 psi in it liquid form.

Any shoot down you get is a result of the regulator, not the tank.

The only major advantage to HPA is the fact it's cleaner than Co2. This is partly solved by the filter installed in all Shockers as of 11/99. If you have the filter, no major need to use HPA (if you use HPA, MAKE SURE to install a on/off roller valve on the regulator, as you CAN blow the Max-Flo) but if you have no filter, either buy one, get HPA or begin saving up for new solenoids.

I have taken a particular unliking to co2 because it blew up my shocker :pissed: although it was my fault I will still never use it again. Im gonna have to stick with my max-flo tank.....clean, efficient, if you breathe the good stuff then why go cheap on your shocker and give it co2? The filter is like a gas mask, you have to wear it to prevent dying:laugh: but you dont need a gas mask if your breathing clean air and you will live longer. Same applies to the shocker. Sure you CAN use co2 but splurge and buy an hpa tank. I hope that personification helped in a way:crazy: .

I want to get a shocker but if i do, a HPA tank will be atleast 6 months away. Is it okay to run C02 on it and not mess things up. I know you said something about the filter, would a Shocker Sport 4x4 have one?

Any shocker made after 11/99 will have a filter in it. If you run Co2, make sure to have a filter and PERFECTLY matched anti-siphon in your tank.

To check for a filter (if its the new body style, there defineately is one in there), unscrew the air hose (where it connects to the body, and see if you can see the filter, it should be pretty easy to spot.

So...since liquid co2 can't exist at 180 psi Shockers don't freeze like other markers on co2?

Yes your reg does freeze. Just because "liquid co2 can't exist at 180psi" only tells half the story. The liquid has to go somewhere, so intern it "can", I'm not gonna say always cause Das swears by co2, but can freeze your reg. There is also the factor that you need the right size tank to properly and effectively use an anti syphon. Some people use 20 ounce anti-syphoned tank, but that doesn't always give you enough extra space between the liquid co2 and the already expanded gas. Any tilting the marker can cause liquid to get into the anti-syphone. If you are gonna run co2 the best thing to do is get a 68 cu tank and put and anti-syphon in that. It will give you enough room for the liquid and the gasses to stay seperate.

Liquid co2 may not exist at 180 psi, but the 180 psi is AFTER the reg. The reg can and WILL freeze on co2 but it takes a whole bunch of shooting to even get the reg seriously chilled.

Like I said, Das will stand by co2 till the end.

So...the tank(if metal), the asa, and hose will freeze while the body of the gun and most of the regulator is comfortable?

That sounds pretty good, especially if wearing gloves.

Hey, it's not like I'm not open to the idea of Nitro. I just don't like people doggin co2 cause "all the pros use nitro".

Well, on most markers(stock) co2 just...isn't good. I mean there's the freezing, the dirty particles, the fear of messing up your electronics, and the weight of larger(20oz+) tanks.

But for the cost and availability, I would be shooting HPA on my Pirahna. If, more likely when, I buy a Shocker, I will probably use co2 most of the time.
