Long story short, I got hit in the eye when I was a kid and lost my depth perception in my right eye, I've shot high-power with scopes and they naturally correct the problem. Has anyone had any experience with tactical/red dot scopes, durability, specific make/model. I've tried going lefty but that's just ugly, trust me. I'm getting tired of trying to site with my left eye and the paint is getting expensive. Thanks for the input.

I also experienced an injury requiring an artificial fixed focal length lens replacement in my right eye. I'm a right handed shooter which means any long gun equipped with iron sights is a pain to shoot with both eyes open unless I go left handed which just isn't comfortable.

I experimented with a red-dot equipped pistol a while ago and it did make it easier to sight with my non-dominant eye (both eyes open). AR-15/M16A1 style rear peep sights seem to help as well - I think it has something to do with putting the circle shape in front of your non-dominant eye which draws focus.

I'm waiting on arrival of a used Model 98 to play with since the Spyder I've been using chews through a lot of paint walking shots on target. Practice and muscle memory in the short game seems to work fine so far but I'd love it if I could make some sighted long shots now and then.

I have a fake lense in my right eye as well as scarred tissue on the retina... aka... the vision in my right eye is severly lacking. I have tried a red dot scope with that eye and it is not possible. However, for long distance shots, you should have enough time to site with your other eye, it is just a little uncomfortable....

Or you can do what I did...

Get comfortable being a lefty in PB.

You may as well learn to shoot with both eyes open and both hands. In my opinion, being able to shoot well with both hands is one of the easiest and best skills to cultivate as a player. It will take a bit of getting used to at first, but after a couple days playing it'll be almost second nature. I actually shoot BETTER with my left(non-dom) hand now(for PB at least) than with my right.

If you really want to be able to sight, I'd suggest trying a small air rifle scope(4x10 is it?) at first and seeing if that helps. Really and truly though I've found that most of the time long shots like that where you have plenty of time to setup are a rarity.

Good luck.
