IRONMEN...switching guns?

Okay, I went into a PB store in Oakdale CA. and the guy that worked there said that he recently talk to one of the IRONMEN and they said that they were switching their guns to Matricies!!! :eek: I could'nt believe it!! Is this true?? This guy seemed like he knew a whole lot...he was even talking to Palmer when I walked in!! So I can't figure it out, has anyone else heard this??

and I have to assume you mean the SC Ironmen, because all bob long's Ironmen were using Intimidators.

and if the Bob Long guys switched to anything, it'd be to the new GZ intimidator.

I didn't stay to see the end of the match, but it wasn't looking too good for Bob Long's Ironmen when I walked away.

The plural of the matrix paintball gun is matrixes. Unlike the mathematical term matrix and it's plural form, matrices, it is a registered trade mark (or something like that).

Your correct, they did place 4th in one tourney in the past 12 months

BUT they placed also
2nd in Atlantic City & Chicago Open
6th in MGO &
8th in WC2k1

in the past 12 months.

Actually, those are terrible results. They didn't even go to a couple of the Millenium events because they were playing so bad. Do you know how much money and recognition you get for winning 8th place? About this much

Do you know how much recognition you get from being the best team for 4 years straight, winning the NPPL Series Title 7 Times.

Just because they go through growing pains, with 4 of their veteran players retiring in one year does not make them Suck.

Look at Bob Long's Ironmen Last year. They won the 7man WC & thats it. The rest of their finishes were no better than SC's

Bob's Ironmen placed first in the MGO last year, as well they placed first in Toulouse, one of the largest 7 man tournaments in the world. They also had a number of second and third place finishes that aren't really worth mentioning. Maybe you should check to see you know what you're talking about before trying to make a point...

My Point is, Because a Team goes through growing pains, does not make them Suck. The SC Ironmen were paintballs best for the longest time, Now for the past 1.5 years they slow down because of Their Veterans retiring & the team trying to rebuild their Backbone, & you have the Courage to say they suck.

Oh I'm sorry, the Blue jays won back to back World Series titles in 92-93, I guess that means they don't suck now. The SC Ironmen (who were actually called "the Ironmen" at the time) won the majority of their wins with Bob Long as captain. Bob left, they peaked and crashed because Dave Youngblood doesn't know how to run a team. Last season they had Marty Bush, Shane Pestana (sp) and Brahim Estefan (sp), so you can't blame their crappy performance on the retirement of their players. Perhaps you could blame the retirements on the crappy performance though. Bob built the Ironmen team that won so many times, and without him they had their best season then promptly fell apart. Now Bob has had time to build his team, and surprise surprise they're alot better.

I hate to be the one to disapoint you, but a teams past performances do not make them good in the present. Colorado won the stanley cup a few years back, does this make them the best team in Hockey? Dallas Cowboys used to dominate football, how many people do you see claiming they're the best team in the NFL these days?

You can say the Cowboy's suck these day's, Sure, but look back when they had Aikman, Smith, Irvin...etc, They were the best for years. People will always remember tthat. Anyone that follow football knows that The cowboys were the NFL's best. The reason they fell is because players started to retire. Deion, Troy & mike all Left. They still had Emmitt, but he couldn't produce **** in The backfield.

Same goes with the Ironmen, Now that Shane, Bryon & Brahim left the team, They need time to re-build a backfield that was once one of the best in the game.

Bob left the Ironmen & created His own Ironmen. When they first started out, What did they win??, Jack Shat!!!. Now he's finally getting Players that fit his equation & whats happening, They are stepping up.

Same will go with the Ironmen.

I'll admit most of the titles the Ironmen won were with Bob captin, but not all of them. After bob left, Dave took over the team & kept them alive. they were still dominating long after. Then he retired. Years after Bryon, Shane & Brahim retire. Of course thats gonna affect the team. Getting new players & creating a chemistry with them is a hard thing to do.

Every team has their hardships, but they will always be rememberd for what they've done in the Past.

I agree that the Ironmen are in a slump, but they can still play. Look at the Pittsburg Penguins, for the past 2 years they make it to the conference finals and this year they probably wont make the playoffs. Yes the Ironmen are still good, but they suck at the level they are playing right now.

Out of the 4 series event's they go to they place 2nd in 2 of them

& since when does Homefield advantage help anyone out, Have you ever been to an NPPL event. A week before the event, they change the layout's of the field & setup the airball 3 days before the event. Thus not allowing them to practice prior to the tourney. & its not like there is gonna be a sell out crowd cheering them on from the sidelines. ITs paintball not Football!!!

As I understood it, Bob Long LEFT the Ironmen by choice. Regardless of how much money he dumped into them, he LEFT them.

Bob Created the original Ironmen with Dave youngblood by side.
Bob captain'd the team till Dave & him got into it, Bob left, Dave took over & now Bob wants the rights to the name.

On one had i think Bob deserve's the rights to the name, but on the other hand the rest of the original Ironmen stayed with dave, so they suited the name still, but now since the ironmen are all Slowly retiring, they might have to give up the name.

I agree about leaving the names. Watching the new World Cup movie you could see the tension between the two teams. I thought that it was one of the best games on there. I must say though, I think Kevin Jones is the most annoying man that plays paintball.

your a idiot. the reason why the cwboys started to lose is players aging.they all stayed for several years after there end of superbowl apperances and wins. Hell all were there for at least 4 years before they started to leave.you no nothing about football and paintball. p.s sc ironmen sucks

Dynasty, he's a front guy. I saw him in some videos and it's killin me that I can't remember his name. Whatever his name is, he beat out Mike Carey of Bob's Ironmen for the 1v1 top gun at MArdi Gras this year. If anyone felt inclined to look it up, they'd have our answer I suppose :)
