View Full Version : Impulse stops firing!

Let see how much Impulse owners really know!

I have a newer style Impulse, the one with the silver trigger. About 3 months old, used about 3 - 4 times.

Running Co2, Delrin bolt, Wermod tapeworm, and an internal trigger job. Not a new trigger.

Chronoed at 285fps. Pressure is between 190/200, tank full, new batteries.

Gun will fire fine for a time, then it does what I'll call degassing itself (running out of air). Bolt travel starts to reduce travel to the point it isn't firing any more. Almost like a cocker when you tank off the air tank and fire it with only the air remaining in the gun.

Backed off the trigger tension screw inside the trigger housing and it seemed to help for only one game. Then went back to its not firing mode.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA'S???

is your tank anti-syphon?? your pressure is a little high. try between 150-180

It sounds like your not scewing your tank in all the way. Try screwing it in further.

Or check your dwell

umm your running co2 rite? it fluctuates and the reglator releases the excess pressure to protect the spikes from damaging the guns internals. Sometimes my friend has to hide behinda bunker for it to stop

The first place to look is to the air supply.

First, lets verify what we think it is. when you shoot, whatch the pressure gauge. NORMLY this will jump down and back very fast. I'm betting on your gun that it just starts dropping, and not coming back.

If this is the case, you can forget about any thing in the gun. The problem is in the reg or the air source.

Rather then going thru all the possible air cource problems, simply try a differnt tank-- hopefullv one with an On- off valve.

If you have exactly the same problem with a different tank (I;m sure you have freinds with air tanks) then it most likly will be a reg problem. A ploblem we see often is a fitting or gauge that is TOO tight. This interfers with the piston moving correctly- causing the reg to screw up. If you have changed or tighten a fitting on the reg, this is most likly the problem.

At any rate - get some red loctite, pull the reg form the gun, and remove each of the fitings, clean the threads, and reinstll with red loctite. DON'T over tighten. Let the loctite set over night

You will want to disamble the reg (the spring side) When you reassemble it- thake specal note of the 1/2" long metle rod that pushes up against the piston. (and ofcourse make sure the piston is in right side up!) this is indise the metel cup on top of the spring. this little rod has one end that is slighty rounded the other that is flat. MAKE SURE THE ROUNDED END IS AGAINST THE PISTON.

I hope this will help

I have seen this before with the tank not being screwed in all the way. This tends to happen with anti-siphon more than HPA. Make sure you screw you tank all the way in and see where the X is on the tank. If it is close to up then leave it. If it isn't then you may have to adjust the tank or adjust the anti-siphon tube so when the tank is screwed all the way in the anti-siphon tube is all the way up.

Thank you all for your input to this problem. Additional info is that....

The tank "IS" screw in all the way.
It does have a S.P. on/off valve on it.
"NO" it is not anti-siphoned!
I'm hoping it's nothing to do with the reg.

I'm happy to say, I'm taking it down today to a local shop and have them check it out. If they fix it, I post their findings for all.

Thanks again.

Any further replys...please e-mail me. Thanks.
