I am looking for a new barrel for my Spyder Pilot ACS 05 and have narrowed it down to custom products one piece and the smarts part tear drop and the J&J ceramic one piece. After looking at many threads i have found that these three perform pretty much the same. If that is true which one is quieter because my gun is loud by itself and i liked to lower the sound and increase the accuracy of my barrel.

go for the CP 2 piece, unlike the teardrop or the j&j ceramic you can change backs (if you buy another one) which helps alot depending on the paint you use.. because say you have a bore.686 and your using .688, well your not going to shoot that well...but if you buy another back you can buy differant bores to match differant types of paint.

I'd say a tie between the J&J and CP. I wouldn't even compare the teardrop honestly.
But a two-piece would probably be better. Though if you have some extra money to spend J&J makes very nice barrel kits with three, five, and seven backs. The three backed one is priced nicely so you might consider spending some extra money for a kit.

I have a teardrop and it is the quitest gun in the woods, but maybe its just my gun, I really dont know. I have a 14" and I like it, but others, and more of them, seem to favor the other 2 options.

Not much is going to be quiter than smart parts barrels. They have a ton of porting. Teardrop = fancy looking progressive = 1 piece AA. They are the same thing.

for the cost of buying a cp 2 piece and multiple backs, you could just get a used kit already put together. If you're keeping costs down, I have had good experience with J&J's. Also, you may be able to find a 2 pc UL for around 40-50.

It's useless to try to keep a Spyper quiet by using a particular barrel. It's going to be loud no matter what barrel you have. Forget that aspect and just buy for performance. My recommendation is a CP one-piece.

my CP one peice is pretty loud, although it could just be the marker. for 12'' it dosen't have a hole lot of porting, like a few rows around the muzzle. the teardrop/progressive is probably the most quiet out of the 3.

i bought the tear drop becuase that is all my pro shop had and was very disapointed with its perforrmance compared to my friends j&j so i took the teardrop back and i ordered a 14" j&j off ebay and hopefully will be more satisfied
