Painting a gun

What would be the best way to paint my gun's name on itself? What type of paint?...

Use car paint. . . make sure you take off everything possible and cover all openings. . . and anything not taken off. .

It may help if you state what kinda gun you have?

I painted my m98 camo *looked real good too :-)* with some rustoleoum camo paint. . . took out everything and had just the body. . worked nicely. It also works better if you can do it in a warm environment.
