View Full Version : Installing micro/macro line kit

I recently got a drop forward for my marker (Piranah STS G2). It came with a bottom line. The hose is braided stainless steel. I attached the drop forward and realized there's no way the ASA will attach with the stainless steel hose. So now I'm looking at getting a micro or macro line kit. Are they easy to install or is this something I should let the guys at the proshop do for me. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but I've never worked on a marker, except for regular maintenance and lubing.

Microlones are so easy a paraplegic monkey could do it. Just make sure you put teflon tape or medium strength locktite on the threads when you screw the fittings into your gun.

Well, I'm probably more coordinated than a paraplegic monkey, so ... I guess I'll give it a go. thanks.

hahaha, paraplegic is two limbs being paralyzed, usually the legs even though some people are apralyzed in the arms and walk fine.

dude, i have macro on my cocker, and they are so much easier, lighter, and cheaper. if they dont fit, you can cut them to fit with standard wire cutters

I like the macro line on my cocker a lot. It is very easy to install.

Thank you all for the vote of confidence ... I install the micro-line on my STS this after noon and it was extemely easy. Also got the drop forward on so that big-*** 24 oz tank won't be making me tip over when I'm running through the briar patch.
The next phase ... Expansion chamber. Any thoughts? I'm looknging for something about the same length as my gas-through-foregrip (about 4-6 inches, I'm guessing).

Anytime Electrichead. What type of X-chamber are you looking at?

ACI 6 stage. It is said to be one of the best out there

Is the ACI 6 stage expensive ... I plan on getting the Xchamber and a barrel at the end of the month. Then it's on to a 9 volt Revy.

is your ROF that fast that you need a revvy? Do you chop without one?

I'm normally a conservative player (pick and choose my shots). But I there are times I like to unload. The STS's maximum ROF is seven shots per second (according to the owner's manual).I've chopped balls a couple of times. I wasn't sure if it was bad paint or that they were not going into the feeder port right. A couple of folks mentioned that a revy might correct that problem.

Yeah i like to unload every so often and with my gun it seems like i get more breaks being conservative than being a wild man

The 9v Revolutions are weak and a waste of money. We made the mistake of buying a 9v for my wife's gun and it just doesn't have the power of the 12v or 18v... In my opinion you would be better off with the 12v or 18v if you can find it.

I disagree.
9v's are very cheap, and they have a good feed rate. So they are very good for mid level blow backs. Like spyders, m98's, piranha's, etc.

I was chopping the Pooh outta balls today. I wonder if a revy would have helped prevent that. I talked to one of the refs who said the cool weather may have made the balls swell some. I've never heard of balls swelling in cool weather (with very low humidity.) I did notice that earlier (when it was coolest) that a good number of balls weren't feeding correctly into the barrel. As the day warmed up, that seemed to go away, but I was still breaking balls (about every fifth shot). I was shooting PMI premium in a Piranah STS G2 stock barrel. Maybe I should stick with Marbs.
But the Drop Foward and Microline worked very well and made a lot of difference in how my marker felt. :)

what drop forward did you get? how big was the improvement

I got a Proline Lazy drop foward. Like I've mentioned, the 24 oz tank on the regular bottom line was very awkward to aim and made the marker "back heavy." the drop forward moved the tank up about 3 1/2 to four inches, giving the marker a better center, also made it much easier to aim. If there was any difference in actual performance, I couldn't tell (sorry if my last post was confusing on that point)
the main thing was that it improved the way the marker felt, with more of the weight moved toward the center of the marker. And it was very, very, very easy to install.
