Ok I have a problem. I like the look of a Shocker or Impulse they both look greak. Smartparts Sells killer packages straight from the factory. I havent shot a Impulse or a Shocker yet. There are some questions that I need some answers for If you guys wouldn't mind helping me out with.

#1 Q: Is the Rate of fire excelet for the Shocker and Impulse like those of a bushmaster, Angel, or Intimidator? How do they compair

#2 Q: People say that the Shocker and Impulse's short out there CPU alot of the time is this true or false? People say the CPU is like going though a case and a half of paint and then you have to change the CPU borad.

#3 Q: Since I haven't shot either Impulse or Shocker. People tell me that the Shocker is heavy and the Impulse is light. True or false?

#4 Q: Is the Shocker or Impulse hard to maintain?

#5 Q: Is the Shocker Better than the Impulse? How do they compair?

If I left something out please add them. This will be my last purchase for a while and I want it to be a good one. If you have other Marker's suggestions then feel free to post them. Thanks for all the help.

The rate of fire on a Shocker are almost identical to that of most other electros. They do not shoot as fast as say.....an Angel but if you use a Shocker, (as a backman myself) it is better to shoot long streams than fast ones, and if you are a front man, you've got a choice, Impulse for $450 with damn good rof or $1200 angel with insane Rof.

#2 Q: People say that the Shocker and Impulse's short out there CPU alot of the time is this true or false? People say the CPU is like going though a case and a half of paint and then you have to change the CPU borad.

False, majorly false. My 99 SF has had its original board alot longer than most cocker people keep any of their OEM parts. In fact, the board is one of the few OEM parts left in my shocker. I don't know WHERE people get this OBSURD assumptions but Shocker and Impulse boards short out NO MORE than Angel, Bushy, Timmy or any other electro, prolly even less. Would people put up with a gun that cost them more to replace the board like 3 times a day than they spend on paint?

#3 Q: Since I haven't shot either Impulse or Shocker. People tell me that the Shocker is heavy and the Impulse is light. True or false?

Shocker is only heavy if you're small or not very strong. My shocker, fully laiden is only about 5 onces more than my Angel was. The major difference is that the Shocker is a bit bigger than most guns, but just a little. The Impulse is VERY SMALL and light.

#4 Q: Is the Shocker or Impulse hard to maintain?

If you are a Tippmann owner who never really cleans his guns, then yeah but if you're a normal gun-caring individual, than the Shockers and Impulses require more love but not really more work. You HAVE to regrease it before/after (whichever) EACH day of playing. Takes about 30 min to do a overhaul job on it. I actually think it's kinda fun. Me and my shocker buddies have "cleaning parties" after each day.

#5 Q: Is the Shocker Better than the Impulse? How do they compair?

Shocker is a bit bigger, like I said, but since it's closed bolt offers a lower sound signature, flatter trajectory and less problems with junk screwing up the bolt. The Impulse is an openbolt shocker that is smaller. It weighs less and is easier to tuck into hard spots with, but that's really it. If you're a front man, a Impulse would be the better choice, on the other hand, a Shocker is a better idea for a back player.

In short, every negative rumour you've ever heard about a Shocker applies ONLY to the old PVI shockers (they don't make anymore) and even then MOST of those rumors are false. Ask any Shocker/Impulse owner in this forum, VERY few of them have had many/if any problems out of their guns.

Thank you. I am a Back Player and this information is much appreciated. Thanks for your help. I think I will be purchasing a Shocker 2002, The New Sour Apple Green is a nice color. I think I'll get that one.

Das has hit everything right on the nose. I couldn't have said it better myself. Good luck with your Shocker. I am sure you will love it as much as we love ours.
