I was thinking about starting an online paintball store on the side to make a little $$$ and help out my paintball team. I am a web designer so make the page and put the info on there isnt a problem. I just need a little money to buy some stuff. What do you think about this?

I think you would just lose money in the beginning, which would would be bad if you were trying to raise money for you team. But if you were planning on actually sticking with it for a while, you might see some profit.

Ehhhhh...it'd be very hard in the beginning to do, but if you stick with it, like paintballer930 said, you'd probably see some profit.

If it's going to be a small business, you're not going to make much profit. In fact, unless you plan on getting a mass amount of wholesale product from companies to sell them at a decently competitive price, you'll end up just breaking even most of the time.

The hardes tpart about it is that once people buystuff from a online storee they tned to buy form the same place from on ereason or another (good prcies, free shipping, good service) and i dont think many people will go to your site because if you have the same price as some big site they arent gonna buy form u

Actually I think it is quite possible, thing is you just wont make a huge amount of cash. This is my suggestion, get a dealers permit from NPS and buy some New stuff for wholesale, then post up on PBN in teh NIB forum and tell people to pm you for a price way too low to advertise, then pm them with unbelievable deals and start making cash. I suppose you could start a site as well but you will get 100x more exposure being on PBN.

Isn't that illegal A-5? To sell something that low?

Well its only illegal if you ADVERTISE below MAP or Minimum Advertised Price, so as long as you dont advertise that you are selling DM6s for $500 then it isnt illegal, but I do believe that you can PM people, and if it is illegal a helluva lot of people do it on PBN and that is a major player in paintball so I dont think its not like the companies dont know whats going on.

If you sell below MAP, you'll usually ending making little to nothing. MAP is there to help protect dealers from the giants who get quantity discounts and sell for the same price we get at wholesale. For instance, the markup on high end markers is a very low percentage. If you go below MAP, and the customer pays with a credit card, you're lucky to break even because of the credit card surcharges, shipping from supplier to you, packaging, etc.
Also, 5 years ago would have been a good time to get in. Right now, the industry is so saturated with stores and the customer base hasn't grown much lately. Profits are way down the last couple of years.

^^^ thats kinda what I was figuring, i remember hearing from one of you guys (county or rcx) that there are way too many business that never come anywhere near turning a profit, and go out of business and only end up hurting themselves and the other business that are in competetion with them

If I were you I would think about doing this for an extra buck, because jsut liek county said it is hard to break through nowadays, so if you just sell a few for a buck or 2 it would be much easier, now Im not sure if you just want to make a "quick buck" or if you really want to get into it full time. Only you can decide what you really want to do.
