OK I have a new A5 tippmann.. My question is how often should I oil the gun (like after how many shots)? Also is the gun oiled from the factory?
LIke how bad is it to use the gun if it hasn't been oiled in a while?

just do it after every game. And not oiling the gun causes wear on the internals and causes preformence to degrade

yeah it is factory oiled. you should oil after every game. as far is i know, shooting a gun that hasn't been oiled in a whole can cause it to blow o rings.

To know how important it is you need to understand what is does. The lube is for a couple things.
Most importantly it keeps your O-rings from drying out and getting scraped up. (if they are scratched or to worn they will not seal and the gun will not work)
It also decreases friction on the internals wich promotes efficiency (no big deal here but it will save you a couple shots per tank to have everything clean and lubed)
Now that that is out of the way I find that the proper amount of automatic transmission fluid to use is about eight drops in the A.S.A. and another four on the rear bolt. Then one more for the O-ring on the front bolt. Then dry fire it at least 20 times with no barrel on it to work the lube up through the valve. The excess flys out of the front of the gun.

A good trick for oiling Tippmann internals is to put a couple drops of oil into the ASA hole (where the tank screws in), then screw in your tank and fire a few shots. It will lubricate the valve and other internal working parts.
You should remove your barrel before firing those first 4 or 5 shots. Otherwise, you'll get oil in your barrel which will cause your paintball to fly all wild.
NOTE: I'm talking about firing the marker without any paint in it.

That is a first never heard of using tranny fluid. I have allways oiled my markers the way Countypaintball stated with no problems.

That could be taken very wrong, you might want to re-word ;).
What I usually do is split the whole thing, wipe everything down, make sure it's all intact, use a Q-tip with paintball oil on it (PMI) and just swab all the internals that need it. Then I put it back together and do what Mike said.

Yes, I know you weren't. But the whole tranny part could be taken wrong. Sorry Coenen, but I think you can close this one down, eddie got his answer.
