While Reffing...

While reffing a game with a local team with a really bad rep as shooting anything that moves(believe me, its true), I was standing on a roof watching over a field wide shootout when I started taking fire, 15feet off the field. The outbox was directly behind me, so I decided if I got shot at again, I'd start returning fire.
Sure enough, I took around 19 hits on the roof, so I grabbed a cocker from one of the other guys who was out and proceeded to make sure everyone I saw shoot in my direction took some fire from the high ground.

Call me crazy, but the bright yellow jersey and mask is generally a give away of ref isn't it?

well, whenever i ref i expect to get shot. if a player pops out and just reacts, shoots me once and then realizes what hes shooting at, im mildly annoyed, but i wont shoot back. if they fire more than 5 shots at me, i get rather mad. if they come out from cover, fire, duck back, come out and fire some more, i get roaring mad. the situation you describe sounds like the last case, so i think you were fully justified in taking arms against them.
