I know the smart parts Freak barrel deluxe has tons of bore sizes and all but i can't really afford a 225$ barrel kit. So i was wondering if the freak barrel Big Daddy would work good for the 2k2 autococker vert feed... I really want good accuracy and distance.:) any advice woudl be appreciated
Thanks

16" is too long.

there is no such thing as a big daddy freak kit

freaks should cost around $190 at most places

i would go with a AA front ss back kit personally, that would run you around $200 at www.actionvillage.com or the same at www.animalpaintball.com

i agree, i would never pay for a 16" barrel, i would hate playing with it. but its personal preference and if thats what you want (i have no idea why, it will not perform any better than a 10" front) i guess you could get one. i personally would go with a SS back and back 10" tear drop front . . .

i don't know where you see me saying BigDaddy freak kit from, i just mentioned a BigDaddy freak barrel.

I heard that with a 16" you get more spin on the paintball which gives you more disntance and accuracy or somethin like that. I also heard around 12" is a lil short and loosein some spin and 18" theirs too much drag. I got this advice from some paintballing friends (2 of which are on teams) and a couple people that work at some stores were i live, i don't see any reason for them to tell me that 16" is better for no reason cause it costs the same as any other length. again i'm kinda on a limited budget... (not willing to save up tell 200) If i wanted to do that i would buy a freak deluxe kit thing.
Thanks

16 has no advantage over other sized barrels except for length. i wouldn't get one.

freak kits are only $180 at www.paintballgeeks.com i believe. the freak is a much better investment in the long run i think.

I have a couple concern's about getting the freak kit:

1: 180$ might make me have to play with my stock barrel for a while

2: I'm not exactly sure on how to choose the right barrel bore or size for the paint i will be useing

3: I want to be a "long shot" "Back player" however you say you want to pick off the opposing team from a distance while being politicly correct :biglaugh: :peace: and i thought that anything under 14" u loose some distance... if i'm wrong could some1 please correct me?

Thanks

Hehe i have no clue whats the difference

i wrote this in another thread. i would still do the same even if the choices were freak or all american. unless you wanted to buy a freak back and inserts later and keep your 2k2 all american front.

and i don't believe in the distance issue. if anything you have more barrel to catch a weird spin on and have less accuracy. but hey, you could get that two more inches distance with the longer barrel

Freak back:$55 http://countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=2033

Freak Front: $45-$50 depending on color. http://www.888paintball.com/Class.asp?ProductLine=+++BARRELS&Class=++++++++++++++++++FREAK+SYSTEM

Freak inserts: $20 Each. I would get two. .687 for medium sized paint (like your marballizers) and a .682 (for small bore paint). http://www.888paintball.com/Class.asp?ProductLine=+++BARRELS&Class=++++++++++++++++++FREAK+SYSTEM

The front and back comes to $100 plus any insert you get. I would get two inserts for $140. Two barrels for a little over the price of a boomer. ($100)

That's what I just got in the mail today. Stop agreeing with me! Stop! stooooopppp.

Also, yeah, you will get the same distance out of a 10" barrel as you would out of a 16" barrel. They will also show the same accuaracy. The paintball only touches the barrel in the back part which is exactly the same on all freaks. Mine with an s/s back was 199.99 at pbgear.com.

Also, it's ok to use the stock barrel for longer, if you get the barrel you really want later. If you bought something cheaper, then later you'd still want a freak, and would have wasted the money on your other barrel. Oh, and to check which insert to use, drop three of your paintballs at random through the largest insert. Progressively go down in bore size until the paint doesn't roll through. Make sure you can easily blow it out with a steady streak of air. This should be true for 2 of the 3 paintballs you randomly selected.

As for barrel length, I use a 16" freak and also have a 12" tip. I like the 16" the best cause its *dead* quiet. I'm a sneaker, so quiet is good. I also think the extra 4 inches gives you an edge on accuracy, but I have never accually done a side-by-side comparison, so I really have no idea.

As for range, I don't think any barrel does any increase in range. If the balls are all leaving the barrel at 285, they'll go just as far as gravity can take them. Don't believe that **** about "spin" on the paintball. Pballs are liquid filled and don't spin. Just like when you take a glass with ice cubes floating in it and rotate the glass on an axis, the ice cubes stay in the same place. They don't spin.

Most back players I know use a 16". I like them and don't find them any hinderance at all, and I'm a ground hugging sneaker. I think its worth it to go 16" (if you don't like it you can always change the front) especially for a back player.

As for which barrel front, the AA or regular teardrop, I don't think it makes any difference at all. The teardrop ports are strategically designed to trap as much paint as possible and let it slowly seap back into the barrel. They're cup-shaped you see. The AAs are almost as bad. The good thing about the ports is that the SP barrels are the quietest out there. The front section doesnt' really affect your accuarcy, just the back, but the freak back should take care of that. AAs look cooler though, so you may want to get that.

niether. get a sixteen inch freak with like three of the incerts, and get like 2 length tips. like a speed ball on (ie 12-14)
and a 16 inch one. (i don't mind sixteen. after haveing a 20 inch barel, i don't think that 16 isa to long, i like 12-16 now.10 inch is ok on like an angel it looks tight. but a freak i think it's a waist.

For that much he could just get a whole set.

On the pic i'm looking at it shows two front parts of the barrels one with the whole (ports) and one without, is the one without any wholes the All American one?

so this info is all over the place 16" is silly
and waaay to long and causes to much drag
some pro's and tourny players use 16's to fold
sup bunkers and shoot from the valleys in coragated hyper tubeing but thats it

there are 3 sizes of barrel you should be considering 10",12",14" none of them have
technical accuracy or range advantage

generally longer barrels are a bit more quiet

it all comes down to comfort some people have a easier time with a longer barrel or shorter barrel

go look at the 2 different barrels on smartparts.com

i use the 14 aa for the sup and hyper advantage

you really should save up to get somthing decent
its worth the wait

and yea you can get a freak custom orderd piece
by piece

The short barrel fad is deader than dead at the tournament level. For a while, everyone wanted the biggest drop, and shortest barrel possible, until someone realised "Hey... this sucks!". Having the smallest gun in the universe really isn't going to do all that much for you, and 10-12" barrels are for sissies :P

Seriously, if you're gonna be anywhere near a sup air field, you're going to want at least a 14 inch barrel so you can bend that bunker around a bit. It truly helps, and that's why you don't often see many barrels shorter than 12 at the professional level. So get the 14, and don't be a weenie with a short barrel like UTLady :D

I agree with Twitch, 16" is fine.

Atleast 14"-16" on SupAir.

IMO, if u are uneasy about spending $100+ then just get a cheaper barrel. Accuracy will mostly depend on what Paintball you are using. So use a good paintball.

Get a J&J 2 Piece only $80, I have one and it is mad accurate with PMI Premium, plus you can get different lengths for only $20. So get a 16 inch tip and a 10 inch tip and you will be all set!

AA tips are 13 boys. I played a game with my friends shocker, 16 inch barrel, my snap shooting was never worse. Get a 13 AA tip, I just don't trust teardrop tips. Plus, you've got the think about manuverability, longer barrels take a bit more effort to whip around. I dunno, go whats best for you. Get a freak so you can switch around.
