First off, I don't want to hear how great the max flo is, as I'm sick and tired of it leakingall the time. I want a reg that works when I want it to.
So, I was wondering if anyone had tried Palmer's Stabe LP and/or the Centerflag inline regs, and your opinions on them, and how they work on an impulse? Flow rate, recharge rate, etc?
Sorry about the rant, but I expect a product that I've paid good money for to at least work...
thanks
The center flag is the one to go for. We have experminited with a number of "low pressure" regs. Frankly most simply don't preform well in the 100-150 psi range. I have personaly found only 3 that I feel give acceptable preformance at under 150 psi on a Impulse firing at high rates of fire. These are the Mac Dev reg, The Center flag, and ofcourse the Max flo.
I don't carry the Mac Dev reg. so my experince is limited here to the one sample we tested and the experince of others using it. While it's preformance is 100%, I have been told by more then a few people that it is very prone to failures fron dirt. In fact the fokes that I have talked to said you sould not even try to use the reg without a after market filter. I didn't even know they made after market filters!
On the other side- the reg we tested preformed very well and the reg is small and light which is a nice plus.
We used Center flag regs on our team guns for a while. ( rember, they didn't always have vertical regs for the Impulse!) Even after the vert max flos came out many of the guys contuned to use center Flags. On all the teams guns thru a huge amount of paint, i don't remember ever having a single failure.
We don't have them on our guns now- not becasue there is anything wrong with them, but just because we are all running dirict from the max flow tanks-- we don't doubel reg any more.
Now on a number of other "big name regs", While we have had super results from these regs when operating in the 250-300 psi range, they just don't measure up when you get them below 150 psi.
FOM
I have used both the Plamer stab and the LP centerflag. I dont own an Imp. and have never run iether bellow 160-170. I used them on my Timmi. The both worked exceptionally well for me. No drop off.. no spiking. The only reason I switched from ther palmers, was its length. If I ever needed to adjust velocity I was fprced to remove my drop forward with the Palmers. Since I play both indoor and outdoor... This became a hassle... Thats why I switched to the centerflag. I can fit the allen wrench with out removing my DF.
