What is teflon tape used for? Where can you buy it?

It's used to stop leaks on threads which have gas, but no o-ring. (Like hoses, Q/D's, 90* elbows, cocker pneumatics, etc...)
You can get some at your local hardware store for cheap. When you use it, cut off enough to go around the threads twice, but not more than that. (I do find it's better to cut, since tears can clump and stretch the tape). Anyway, laying the strip long ways, fold it in half. (Hot-dog fold for all of those who remember kindergarten.) Then wrap it evenly around the threads leaving about 35% exposed on the outside (part you screw in first) Once that's done, just screw it in firmly, and hopefully it should hold the air.
