I have been looking for information on it everywhere and can't find any. What's the deal with it? What does it do and how?

It force feeds your paint. Essentially it throws paintball down into the breach instead of normal gravity feeds. It's banned by the NPPL because it isnt a pure gravity feed. It is a really high quality feed system, yet it fails to have two of the most important features when it comes to marketing a quality product: Affordable Price and Portability Between Tournaments.

Who said it's banned? The HALO was used by quite a few players at Mardi Gras Open this year. The HALO is'nt the first loader to push balls down the feed tube and it's still a gravity loader. Just assisted.
Look for info on http://www.odysseypaintball.com/main.html
The HALO is a great loader. It's a little heavy and expensive but the difference between that and other loaders is that the HALO is made to be upgradable. When they come out with mods for the HALO you can send it in and they will upgrade it without the need to buy a new loader.

Load, Just from the NPPL. I called one of their reps to see if this was true, and they said it was. Dont blame the messenger. I would prefer to see more of them, but they are just too damn expensive.

Was'nt blaming you, but the guys from HALO said nothing about that when I talked to them last weekend. Is this a new development?

I dont know when the decision was made, but it only effects NPPL tournaments. But I know it must have been before I called, and that was about 2 weeks ago. So I figure it could be prett recent.

actually, not that i could tell. Im not sure how this happened, but they dont allow force feeds, but they do allow warp feeds. Its wierd, interesting, kinda sucks, but doesnt really matter I guess.

I emailed Albert Shilling at OPP and this is what he wrote back...
"No loaders are illegal for NPPL play, including the Warp Feed which is a force feed system. The only restrictions on loaders is that you can only have two black and white stickers on it. e-mail Chuch Hendsch, the president of the NPPL, he'll tell you the same thing..."

Warp feed is allowed because even though it does force feed, its gravity fed from the hopper to the warp feed so is only as fast as the revvy on it.

isnt a halo only as fast as the balls can flow into the impeller? it seems like the warp feed and halo do the same things just in different ways but produce the same result in the end-forcing a ball into the chamber as opposed to letting if fall.

No - because the HALO is the hopper and it gets the balls and rams them into the feed neck. If they re-designed it so that they were put into the feed neck and feeding stopped when any force was applied then i suppose that would be alright because it isnt forceing the stack into the breech.

If it wasn't allowed at the NPPL it would be a huge flop because most wouldn't buy them, lots of money down the drain.
Does anyone else ever wonder how these rumors ever get started?!?!?

No the bps is around 16. I believe it could be a lil bit higher

The HALO can be pushed further than 16bps. There are videos of the e-mag doing 17,18 and 20bps.

do you have a link for it?

The 18bps video is on Odyssey Paintballs webside http://www.odysseypaintball.com/products.html
The 20bps is on www.airgun.com. Though it doesnt show the marker and hopper only a HALO could allow a e-mag to fire that fast.

Yeah. After reading some where I learned it can feed really fast. Also I don't know where I heard it, I think the impyownersgroup.com that they have a dark halo which can feed like 25 or 30 bps. That would be crazy speed:crazy:

Theres no point having them feed that fast because the fastest, marker can only fire about 11-14bps, anything beyond that isnt humanly possible. And if a marker was set to full-auto, some markers cant cycle more than 16bps without getting shootdown, RT based mags being the only exception.

with a trigger set up a certain way, you can shoot more than 14bps easily because of random trigger bounces. Its possible to simply do only bounces that will go pretty much as fast as the board/feeding will allow.
The dark halo doesnt feed at all since it doesnt exist. The first sneak peek on warpig said they had it shooting as fast as 30bps i think, but the production model is 16. They have upgrade bearings but noone has put out the feed rate or them yet.
